Seems like the news article gave a pretty specific number, not a rounded off number. This entire thread is based on how UNC rounded up their numbers instead of giving a specific count. How pathetic!

What's pathetic is all the fuss about numbers (fudged or otherwise) at a spring game. Let's wait till the real season starts before we sling anymore mud.

LOL you guys are too predictable!

My wife and I did not attend so I have no idea about the attendance. (We had a party to attend, unfortunately. We both would have preferred to be at this game/practice...) I just know State never fudges the attendance numbers, and Carolina does it every year.

Btw, I did concede that it appeared that Carolina's attendance was 15K, tops, based on the most-crowded picture I saw. It wasn't a crazy overestimation. Just an overestimation.

State has no need to fudge the attendance numbers. We know we have a football fan base.

Funny how none of those pictures show the whole stadium............

Most people were on the East side, but a few thousand people were scattered all around the stadium. If you look at a picture of the stadium at the end of the 1st quarter, 24,000 is easily possible.

chapelthrill is like the Florida fan I met today that claimed Miami was "just a bunch of words I can't say on WRAL." Grow up.

That's besides the point though. why does it matter what the reported spring game attendance is? It's the spring game! Plus why does it matter besides that? Last time I checked attendance has no impact on who actually wins the game.

But since State fans seem to cry about Carolina on this subject every year I do find it humorous that all of a sudden they are taking the status quo UNC line.

Back when Butch was at UNC Chapel Hill, they developed a tendency to greatly exaggerate their spring game attendance numbers which recruits hear about. I know the Spring game attendance numbers don't determine a recruits decision, but in this day and age every little bit helps.
Plus as State fans we just like for the numbers to be right.
If all you did was look at those pictures and determine to yourself that there were less than 24,000 people at the Kay Yow Spring Game, you are just plain naive.
At the peak time today, there were at least 24,000 there. I know this because I was ACTUALLY THERE.

And I was ACTUALLY at the Carolina Spring game but none of you took my word, or the word of anyone else who was there, that Carolina had at least 15,000 there. Now that the shoe is on the other foot, you don't like it. Tough.

It's well known that UNC lies about their regular season game attendance figures, EVERY game. Look at the numbers. It's always just a number thrown out there. 57,500. 55,000. Never the exact number, because they don't actually count the tickets like State does. State's numbers are almost always something like 57,583, 54,421, etc. Actual butz in the seats.
Further, it's been pretty obvious that UNC fudges when you see a number like 51,000 for a William & Mary game, when anyone with eyes could see there's less than 30k there.
As for the spring games....I'll have to take UNC fan's word for the 15k number. I have no problem taking NC State's number, as they are known to be more truthful. I'd take a UNC fan's estimate before I took UNC's official lie.
Still, State had more, as usual, and we likely always will. No surprise there.

Just saw the UNC attendance thread and the pics. I think anyone who is reasonable and looks at the pics of the UNC attendance and the State attendance would have to conclude that if that is TRULY 17k at the UNC game, then State easily had 24k, just based on how many more people were obviously at Carter Finley. Right?

Not saying either figure is correct, but IF (and that's a big "if") UNC's IS correct, than by comparing the pics, it's pretty easy to think that State had nearly 10k more.

This is all irrelevant because it was a rainy, cold, dreery day on Saturday. During UNC's Spring Game, the weather was perfect. No excuses.

NC State isn't the school on probation.
NC State isn't the school losing scholarships.
NC State isn't the school banned from the postseason.
NC State isn't the school wondering whether or not their fanbase cares about football.

Those problems are left for UNCheat.
