Coach Avent and the Wolffie Way

Good that he accepted the suspension...given it can't be appealed.
And good that the team has displayed character...'cause he sure didn't.

Avent was ejected in the bottom of the sixth inning for picking up a catcher's mask off home plate and tossing it towards the Wolfpack dugout. Following the ejection, there was physical contact between Avent and the home plate umpire, a violation of NCAA rules that carries an NCAA-mandated three-game suspension that cannot be appealed.

"I accept the suspension," said Avent. "Our team has displayed character...�

But the team stayed on the field and finished the game.

Just as kato can't help it that your own coach committed so gross a violation of ncaa rules, that an automatic, unappealable 3-game suspension was slapped on him.

3 games < Show Cause. Riddle me this: How many former/current UNC coaches and assistant coaches have one of those right now?

And his actions were a little over the top and I don't condone them. Punishment deserved.

HOWEVER, this is much better than threatening opposing fans with a BB gun. Also, when did we ever claim there was a "wolfie way?" The only "way" that has been broadcast on here day in and out is the "carolina way" which is clearly a facade.

I can't believe you people are STILL harping over a clearly tongue-in-cheek statement by Coach Williams. It was hardly a threat and anyone with an ounce of intelligence knows that. Would you fall in that category?

Tongue-in-cheek or not, it was inappropriate. Your head coach is obviously getting more and more senile as the seasons wear on. I mean come on...he forgot that a game had 19 seconds (or so) left and just walked out. Best have him checked for the alzheimers.

That's baseball, tempers can run high, I personally don't have a problem with the suspension or the violation.
