I agree that Swoff's an idiot.

But this isn't ALL his fault.

I'm concerned about the ACC's situation. It seems we might actually be on the outside looking in. But that has as much to do with the Florida teams and VT as it does the Swoff. They have not been dominant like we expected them to be when they joined the league. FSU was for a while, but even they went down as Bobby Bowden's career slowly wound down. So the ACC never had the dominant football team(s) that we expected to have. Maybe that is partly because of Swofford (I think he only really cares about UNC/Duke and basketball), but he's not entirely to blame. The ACC just hasn't been all that appealing from a TV point of view. That is why we don't have a big enough TV contract to keep the so-called heavyweights happy. It's their fault for stinking it up over the last several years, yet as heavyweights (in name only), they still want a bigger piece of pie.

I don't like what is happening with college football. It just seems out of control, and the NCAA is powerless to control or govern any of it. A few bigger schools are clamoring for big money, and that is the only thing that is governing anybody.

Tweedle Dee Truth and Tweedle Dum InDeOutHouse calling Swofford dumb because they keep blaming all their woes at NCSU on him. Let me give you ladies a little hint, the SCHOOLS are responsible for making their bones, not Swofford. I'll be the first to admit UNC is not relevant in football due to UNC, nothing else. Why is Miami down, poor coaching hires. Why is FSU down? Academic scandal and an aging Bownden who just did not want to let go. MD? The Fridge. Clemson, the Bowden experiment. That's why we are on the outside looking in, very poor coaching hires (ex: Sidney Lowe). And it takes years to swing the pendulum.

So there Mr. Truth, "I think he only really cares about UNC/Duke and basketball" Really? It's good to know that Swofford is the reason your basketball program has been in the desert and your football program not an ACC title contender because of one man. Never knew Swofford had such influence over hiring decisions at the schools. One day you will awake and find out the schools chart their own paths, not the path of the Commish. He can provide some direction but VT is good in football because VT wants to be. FSU and Miami recruit well because they want to be dominant in football. The solution is always in the mirror there Mr. Truth, always.

^ I think the Swoff has certainly made some poor decisions, but I completely agree that the individual members are just or more responsible for the state of the ACC. Sometimes you swing and miss, in our case we have swung and missed alot. There are a number of factors why we are setting ourselves up, as conference, to potentially go the way of the buffalo. IF the conference does indeed begin to crumble it will be a down right shame, but it will be self-inflicted. The Big 12 was on the ropes last year and looked like they were out, now, they are back and stronger than ever. It will be interesting to see how all this unfolds, but it could be painful.

I would not count the ACC out. Debbie Yow, Bubba Cunningham, and the like are going to make/have made good hires and we are coming back. All things ebb and flow, and the SEC will go there one day in the near future, it's inevitable. Remember when the Big 10 and Big 12 were the toast of the town? I like what I see ACC schools doing and if we can just keep everyone together it will finally work. The SEC will not make FSU a title contender.
