Apparently Clemson is thinking about leaving the ACC too.

Just a fine job you're doing there, Swofford.

RE: More ACC News

At this point we're lucky that teams are just window shopping. If Swofford is competent to any degree, he will be doing his darndest to either bring in some marquee teams for better competition, or he will convince the AD's to raise the exit fee even higher. Otherwise this league is done for.

RE: More ACC News

Hypothetically, if State received an offer from another conference, and wanted to accept, what would have to happen to make it happen? Meaning, who would have to approve? Is it a BoT/Chancellor decision? Would the BoG have to approve it? Hopefully not. Because I can't imagine that kangaroo kourt of kerlina grads allowing State to move to a bigger and better conference than their beloved tar holes are in.

I'm not asking this to start a debate over whether or not the Big-12 or SEC would offer State. Maybe they would, maybe they wouldn't. I don't care to debate that. I really just want to know what it would take for State to move to another conference if the opportunity presented itself.

I think Conf USA is full TBK.

I dont know what it would take for a team to leave the ACC.....who will be first.

RE: More ACC News

It's a school decision. The powers that be in the ACC set the exit fee and other contractual obligations. I think the current exit fee just got bumped to $20 million if I recall (could be wrong). So I dare say nobody in the system has that chump change just lying around in this economy.

Why would either conference be open to NC State? What does State have that is so great that you would even entertain this idea? What does State have to offer the other conferences? The truth is that State would be a door mat in either of those conferences and especially the SEC. Keep dreaming....sometimes dreams actually do come true! NOT

RE: More ACC News

As reported by OrangeBloods, VT, Miami, GT, FSU, and Clemson have all made informal contact with the Big 12.

The ignorance in the post is intoxicating. State offers a new market, as does VT. It's all about the money. Obviously State would be the second choice in NC (behind UNC) but if UNC is coupled with Duke it would make State the more viable option here. And of course we would be the doormat in football in the SEC for a few years (as would UNC), but so was South Carolina and Arkansas when they initially joined. However, being in the SEC will attract top flight coaches and players because people want to play in the premier football conference. Things would turn around quickly.

Whereas UNC brings nothing but sanctions and baggage
