If Bill Friday has been such an outspoken proponent of having the classroom take priority over athletics and the NCAA, why does he have nothing to say about the egregious, dishonorable academic fraud being conducted for the benefit of athletics at Carolina?- Posted by rwk1961

Bill Friday has spoken several times since this scandal began. His interviews have been covered widely in the news.
He has not spoken in recent weeks since he had a cardiac event, was in the hospital in critical condition, and had a pacemaker implanted. A couple of weeks later he turned 92 soon after returning home from the hospital. He continues to recuperate. I fully expect him to comment further over the coming months.
I also suspect that, as an NC State graduate, he doesn't want to be seen as piling on to their arch rival.- Posted by Ken D.

...and also a UNC graduate. I think everyone knows where Bill stands regarding "ABC". Ask ECU about how he supported their efforts to grow and establish a medical school.
And I've seen some of his previous comments. He seemed to blame the cheating at Carolina all on the NCAA.
It's never too late to do the right thing.
I support what you have written unc70. I too have heard him several times speak about this, and also read as much too.- Posted by unc70If Bill Friday has been such an outspoken proponent of having the classroom take priority over athletics and the NCAA, why does he have nothing to say about the egregious, dishonorable academic fraud being conducted for the benefit of athletics at Carolina?- Posted by rwk1961
