If Bill Friday...

If Bill Friday has been such an outspoken proponent of having the classroom take priority over athletics and the NCAA, why does he have nothing to say about the egregious, dishonorable academic fraud being conducted for the benefit of athletics at Carolina?

Bill Friday has spoken several times since this scandal began. His interviews have been covered widely in the news.

He has not spoken in recent weeks since he had a cardiac event, was in the hospital in critical condition, and had a pacemaker implanted. A couple of weeks later he turned 92 soon after returning home from the hospital. He continues to recuperate. I fully expect him to comment further over the coming months.

not to mention he was very close friends with Andy Griffith, So
he`s really been dealing with alot lately.

I also suspect that, as an NC State graduate, he doesn't want to be seen as piling on to their arch rival.

...and also a UNC graduate. I think everyone knows where Bill stands regarding "ABC". Ask ECU about how he supported their efforts to grow and establish a medical school.

And I've seen some of his previous comments. He seemed to blame the cheating at Carolina all on the NCAA.

It's never too late to do the right thing.

For the record, Leo Jenkins was calling for a med school at ECTC/ECC before it was awarding a masters degree in anything, befor even an MAT. That was also roughly six years after the first graduates of the four-year med school in Chapel Hill.

A heart attack is only one type of cardiac event. I have not seen Bill Friday since the event, have not seen or heard the details of his latest problem. So I used the appropriate term.

Yes, I am a liberal, proudly. A la John Locke, though he was naive regarding markets, as much so as those interested in actual socialism, communism, or fascism. I have absolutely no problem with the word attack, nor with taking that action when warranted.
