Academic Suspensions

Academic Suspensions

Three freshmen, Tyler Knox, a DE, Xavier Griffin, Receiver, and Desmond Owino, DE, did not qualify academically. They will not be around for the 2012 season. Anyone know anything relevant re these 3 ex-players?

RE: Academic Suspensions

They are all going to prep schools...not relevant.

RE: Academic Suspensions

T. Knox - Butler Community College
D. Owino - Hargrave
X. Griffin - Fork Union

RE: Academic Suspensions

From what I understand, they probably wouldn't have gotten much playing time this year, anyway. So assuming they remain committed to the Pack, we'll get them a year later, older, stronger, etc.

This shouldn't be much of an impact to us.

RE: Academic Suspensions

I wouldn't fret about guys that haven't made it to Raleigh yet. They would probably have redshirted anyway. The biggest opportunity lost is a year of college style weightlifting and learning TOB's system. But making sure they belong in college is the first step. They will make it if they belong.

RE: Academic Suspensions

Champions in the classroom...get it together and we'll see you soon.

RE: Academic Suspensions

Thanks for the feedback. Also remember this when we get hammered about players NOT getting dismissed because of academics at State.

RE: Academic Suspensions

Does this actually even count as suspensions? My understanding was that these players did not qualify to enroll and thus have gone the prep school route. That isn't a suspension since they never actually enrolled or am I just nit picking?

RE: Academic Suspensions

^^Good point, jmwbrd. Maybe they never enrolled. Maybe suspension was my (bad) assumption. Dang, I hate when I do that! :)

It depends. It you want to prove that TOB is tough on academics, they I'm sure you will count them as suspensions. If you want to prove that State has high academic standards for football recruits, I'm sure you will say that they were never admitted.

Either way, it was handled better than UNCheat has done.
