Let's Talk Wolfpack Football
I'll start a similar thread about UNC on the UNC forum.
Questions for Pack fans who pay attention from a UNC fan who wants the skinny on this year's Pack team.
Who do you expect to be the go-to WR?
-Glennon will get his stats, but after losing some key guys, who will be on the recieving end this year?
Who will be the DL's and LB's that will make noise this year now that the NFL draft took a bite out of these units?
The secondary is stout. But if the guys up front don't apply pressure like last year's group, how might this affect the role of the experienced secondary within the current defensive system? Do the DB's ever blitz in this system?
Some people may not know about Forrest West. He redshirted last year after transferring in from Colorado. He's a stud DE. Anybody know the depth situation at DE?
The Packs's running game should be pretty good this year. Who will carry the load? Looks like a few capable ball carriers on the roster.
How is recruiting going? Any serious needs being addressed?

Tobias Palmer will be the "go to" receiver this year, he's a smaller receiver but has a great knack for making people miss. You may remember his play against UNC last year when he took a 5 yard crossing route for 50 yards before his teammate tackled him. Behind him, I'm looking for
Bryan Underwood to step up and make things happen. He had a breakout game against UVA last year and adds tons of quickness to that position. After that it's pretty much unknown who will get the reps between
Maurice Morgan,
Charlie Hegedus, and
Hakeem Flowers. They all have a huge potential upside and provide much needed size at the position, but they are all inexperienced at the college level.
DL - I'm not worried about the DL, at all. Even though we lost two starters, I think this will be our best DL since Mario Williams and co. came through. Many of our young guys got much needed experience with the injuries in the past two years and I think it'll show. And yes, I know all about Forrest West. Love the kid and think he's going to turn some heads this season. Right now he is apart of a 9 man rotation on the DL as many of our DE's play DT as well (Norman, Slay, Cato-Bishop). On the whole, I think this may be the most underrated unit in the ACC. (To give you some kind of an idea, one of the media members covering practice said it was the best DL he's seen at State since he's been here).
LB - Our glaring weakness of defense, without a doubt. They will be tested and exploited all year long so it will be interesting to see how they respond. Obviously the timing of our blitz's are of vast importance and our defense suffers when they aren't effective (see the Cinci game last season).
DB's - One of the top units in the ACC, hands down. Their success, however, will hinge on how the LB's time their blitz's and handle the schemes.
RB - Tony Creecy and James Washington will take the majority of the carries until Mustafa is back. Mustafa simply has the vision the other two do not.

-Secodary best in ACC, maybe nation.
-LB's question,however, all have been coached 3 years(1 5th year Sr.) under Jon Tenuta.It's not like they had to beat out the likes of Erving,Manning,Cole,Maddox,etc. :)
-WR 2 solid returning.Flowers,Morgan,Smith will suprise.
-RB's 3 deep(maybe 2)
-OL lots of starting experience.
-Kicking game is sound. The Freshman have a season under their belt.
-Glennon.
-ewenc is on NCAA probation. Their '12 FB season is futile.

I think we'll see a lot of short passes to the RBs out of the backfield. Hope to see them catch short passes and turn them into long gains.

you'd almost never guess from listening to it, that its favorite team LOST its last game to football juggernaut, UK, and was taken to OT by the SEC's other foremost program- Vandy!!! yeppers, that 5-7 campaign they're coming off of, surely strikes FEAR into me!!!
