Without Scott Wood, this year's team doesn't have a threat on the perimeter that other D's must key on.

That is vital for keeping teams from just packing it in on us.

As long as Wood can spot up and shoot with his feet planted he's a great shooter. Any time he has to shoot while moving he is off the mark. It seems like I hardly ever see him drive to the basket and take a lay-up.

    precisely...Woods stats, for hizzytizzy
    mpg- 2nd on team
ppg- 5th(despite being best 3pt shooterAND free throw shooter)
    rpg- 5th(tied w/ Purvis)
apg- 5th(tied w/ CJ!??, Howell averages more)
    spg- 6th
    fg%- 6th

fta- 5th(Lewis has only attempted 20 fewer ft's)

    bpg- 4th

Woods free throw % of 91.2 would rank 7th, in the nation, except ncaa.com doesnt even list him, because he hasnt shot enough to even qualify...despite not missing a game AND averaging 32.5 mpg!? Woods stat line for miami game...30 minutes, 8 pts, 2 rebounds, 2 turnovers, 3 fouls, one idiotic foul, 0 assists, 0 steals, 0 blocks...and just for wphizzytizzy4shizzy ZERO free throw attempts

  • sportznut.V2 Feb 4, 2013

Scott Wood is as one dimensional of a player as there is in the ACC. His 3 point prowess has one advantage, it usually takes his defender out of any help situation. This allows the athletic Wolfpack team more space to play 4 on 4. If the Wolfpack had a record that matched their talent then this would not be discussed. It seems that the Wolfpack is underachieving and the strategy of giving a one dimensional player 30 minutes a game is rightfully questioned

    ^^^^LOL

Scott Wood made 4 FTs (including the last 2 pts scored by State) during the FINAL 30 seconds (I'd call that "crunch time") in State's BIGGEST WIN of the year.

you have a hard time grasping that which is real, duane, I'm very sorry for you.

and no, he's NOT the best ball handler, but he knows that and thus looks to pass/shoot vs. dribble.... but saying he's not around in "clutch" time is just plain ignorant. he also hit a 3 against unc with a minute and a half to go, then buried both his FT attempts with 30 seconds left in the same game, after unc had closed it to 5.

i said he contributed to 2 turnovers, doesnt matter who got the "credit"...and its pretty clear that Wood is afraid of dribbling, hence he tends to shy away from the ball at crunch time...tell me when you have ever seen him dribble more than 5 ft or so without passing...he NEVER takes the ball to the hole, and to be the teams best ft shooter, he fails to take advantage of it by shying away from the ball at crunch time, and not taking the ball in the paint to draw fouls...there was one game, recently, where the announcer even questioned why Wood passed the ball to a weak free throw shooter(who got fouled right away) in an obvious foul situation....and i did get the dumb turnover, followed by the dumb foul out of order, timewise...but the reality of his dumb turnover/dumb foul combo remains...if a player shys away from the ball, at the end of the game, when his teammate needs assistance, and a turnover ensues, he has contributed to the turnover...there is some reality for you

he was merely 2 for 3 on long range attempts with one of them being squarely IN "crunch time", as it was with 3mins to go and put the Pack up by 5, and the last foul called on Scott Wood was with OVER 8 MINUTES to go.... NOR do I show him committing a turnover in the last couple of minutes.

So you agree that no college basketball teams prior to NC State cut down nets and that UNC "stole" the idea from Case.

It doesn't matter that State has not cut down any nets in a while. UNC took the idea from State. It is obvious that you have a problem admitting it because it makes your "State steals from other schools" argument look silly...which it is.

The point is UNC borrows ideas from other schools just like State does. It is not that big a deal.
