NC State isn't ready for the spotlight yet. That doesn't mean it won't be, but the Wolfpack can't lose by 20 on a neutral court to an average Big 12 team and be the clear favorite to win the ACC. Leadership/frontcourt depth will haunt NC State throughout the year. Whenever CJL decides to take a night off, the Pack will fall.
This is why I voted Duke as the preseason favorite in the ACC. NC State just isn't ready for the spotlight yet.

the team is still learning how to play from the front...i don't mind a loss like this very early in the season. now, if they lose by 20 to boston college in the latter half of the acc schedule....then there are MAJOR problems.

I've been saying the frontcourt depth is a concern. Gottfried needs to figure out a strategy to protect Leslie and Howell from getting into foul trouble. Either that or DeThuay and Vandenberg have to do some mid-season improving.

I actually think Duke should have been picked as the favorite to win the ACC as well. Regardless of what happened in the last State game.

Losses in November and December don't matter. Even great teams trip up every once in a while. Remember UNC in 2009? Dropped our first two ACC games to bad teams. Ended up winning a national title that year. Stuff happens.

State needs a Point Guard thats Tough! A point Guard drives the Ball up the Court and makes Crisp Passes and is a Great Defender on the other side of the Ball. Directs and Leads and Challenges his teammates. Encourages his team. He is in fact a Coach on the Court. We need one or Brown needs to step up. As Brown goes so will the team. Lorenzo lets Go !! A solid analysis ndwallace. I agree. They didn't show hardly any leadership against OS. That was the biggest surprise for me. Leslie will end up hurting this team, if he has an attitude like this many times. It rubs off on the entire team. A mentally strong person never does this to a team. Wood is so inconsistent. Brown and Howell did not take charge either to lead the team. I picked Duke to win the ACC tourney before the season began. UNC and Duke will battle it out...I think. NC State has a long way to go.
UNC still has the most talent once again. They are quick on defense, and have some pure shooters. Hairston will kill people with the 3 ball.
Hubert Davis was Roy's best hire to date.
