funny, how you now seem able to "see him as a PG".....

of course he's got to get back into a groove.... he hasn't played at this competitive level in well over 6 months, so assuming he's a full speed/skill by the 5th game of the season, is a bit much. I foresee him progressing and learning from his mistakes (ie- dribbling too tall). I also realize he (in particular) seemed to struggle during late game situations last year, but I also noticed a LOT of standing around watching him, as opposed to MOVING (see- Scott Wood), during those same game ending situations.

The Pack win and/or lose as a team, and Lo B just happens to be the floor general for them... so he's going to have to step his game up, no doubt.... but, to imply he doesn't have the ability or that "you can't see him as a PG", is mildly insane.

They've got work to do, just like EVERY OTHER team in America..... but, I feel supremely confident that Zo will get it done.... Gott will see to it.

    GO PACK!

i'm not saying he's a bad player, that would be absurd...if you go back and watch the crucial losses in the post-season, to unc and kansas, you will see that State had empty possesions at the end of those games, at crunch-time...they either dribbled too long, got off bad shots, or got off NO shot..people talk about the Marshall no call in the tourney, but State had at least 2 possessions after that shot, and didnt score(or even take a decent shot as i remember)...Brown is a good player, so winning more than losing with him at point is obviously not a problem, and his deficiencies wont be as visible in an 8-10 or more point win...its the down-to-the-wire games, where every decision is crucial, where you need a point guard totally comfortable with the position...maybe he will grow into the role, but right now he is averaging almost as many to's as assists(5.2/4.4)..that is not gonna cut it for your point guard, if you want to have post-season success

Nice win State. You guys came away with the W and that's all that matters. Many teams would have wilted under the relentless pressure Ashville applied. The better team won last night. I thought all along State could beat Ashville and they did. I'm sure that win will boost the RPI quite a bit and set State up for what should be a lock for a one seed. The win against Ashville cements State's dynasty over the college basketball world. I expect State will pick up quite a few votes for number one this week!

You're hooked on this aren't you? Yes, I was hoping State would lose. Why would I want them to win? Now against Duke, State will have to get together. On that game, I'll be pulling for State.

This has been a strange start. It is the freshmen who are performing while the returning players are suffering. Seems like we went through a slump like this last year. I didn't expect it this year. I hope we kick into another gear soon.

Remember he was not recruited as a true PG, so you are correct, he looks out of place in the college game. Will probably look better as a Pro PG. He's playing the style he always has.

From the uber obssesed over a few years ago...Sez the guy who has 5-0 tatooed on his forehead backwards so he can stand in front of the mirror for hours and recite it incantation style. Bet it's been a rough go getting it re-inked to say 5-1. Just to save money you should just get "loser" tatooed backwards...for you that will never change.

a lot of his turnovers are lazy passes to the wings that are picked off or the ball is just simply taken from him while he's dribbling. gott keeps telling him to dribble lower to the ground which should reduce the number of times he gets pickpocketed but he's still too upright. he's had good games where he has kept the to's down...right now he seems to be in a funk and not seeing things well on the court for some reason. if he can cut his to's per game down to around 1.5 - 2 for the rest of the season, i like state's chances more times than not.

Precisely. I don't think "Little Debbie" could have said it better herself. Perhaps you should be more concerned about your team's problems with "chemistry, poor coaching, or something else" that are causing losses to barely Division I teams in the Atlantic 10.

brown just seems out of place as a point guard...he can be a facilitator, of some sorts, but i just cant see him as point guard, unless he improves his decision-making....he had more to's than assists tonight, same thing last game....4.4 to's/game is tooooo much for a point guard

Yes, that same obscure mid-major school that lucked into a championship game; that's the one. I take it you are quite relieved UNC doesn't have any other Atlantic 10 powerhouses like Richmond or Fordham on their schedule, mostly just teams from less formidable conferences like the Big 10, Big 12, C-USA, and the ACC.

We don't give 2 sheets whether you won or not. The fact that you almost didn't, on top of that fiasco in the last game, is indicative of huge problems with your team, whether it be chemistry, poor coaching, or something else.

  • buckets112 Nov 23, 2012

#33 going down didn't help asheville any...atkinson and hornsby are good players, they'll probably make it to the tourney again this year.

i guess it takes getting used to being the hunted after nobody cared about your team in the past. i dunno...they'll be underdogs going into their next game though. maybe that will help them focus better.

brown needs to cut back on the turnovers...state won't get far if he continues to to be loose with the ball...loose like wizard's sleeve.

  • TruthBKnown Banned Again01 Nov 23, 2012

Looks like State will win. Had UNC-A not lost one of their best players at the 5 minute mark they might have won. It is not easy that target on your back, is it?

  • buckets112 Nov 23, 2012

with 10mins left unc-a has 25pts of 15 state turnovers. keep that up and they'll lucky to win half of their games this year.

i knew state was in trouble when that atkinson guy made a 3 that hit the back of the rim, died, and them trickled in. almost like that garbage 3 that the ga tech guy hit last year.
