Don't say "pecking order" around state college.

It tends to get the chickens all riled up.

AGAIN,ewenc is NOT the Coastal Div. Champ. They are on NCAA probation for breaking the rules/ cheating. B-4 the very 1st practice they were ineligible( legally or officially unable, unqualified, unfit, unsuitable,unworthy...etc.) to become the Champion in any category in FB for the 2012 FB season.

Get it ?..."Call it what" IT IS !

Exactly. We've never had one, unless you want to count the "Beat dook" parades we used to have during rivalry week back in the day.

The wusspeckers, on the other hand, have been known to hold them to celebrate 4th place finishes in the conference.

    exactly... WHAT parade???

    LOL

  • Metta World Biff Nov 26, 2012

    First tier:
Auburn, Tennessee, Arkansas in any order.

    Second tier:
State, Kentucky, Purdue in any order although Kentucky and Purdue have larger obstacles to a conference title.

    Third tier:
    Boston College

I would separate Colorado and California from the rest of these other available schools. Their typical coaching candidate list will be greatly different than these other mostly eastern schools. There may be some crossover if picking off an established head coach is the plan but both CU and Cal will probably have PAC 12 assistants on the short list whereas the others will have SEC/B1G assistants on the short list. Apples and oranges if you will. But ultimately, both are in that 2nd tier group previously mentioned.
Another aspect to this is what kind of support can be given to the assistant coaches. They are the foundation of a head coach's success. A major disadvantage that Colorado has is a state law that only allows one assistant coach to have a multi-year contract. The rest are year-to-year contracts.
These are the types of things not readily known to us but matter greatly to a coach's perception of whether he can succeed at a particular school.

  • PacknoPride Nov 26, 2012

I say Auburn, Arkansas, Tennessee, Purdue,Cal, Colorado,Kentucky, State, BC. I think the SEC is more attractive because of the potential to play the "big boys." Next would be the Big Ten for the same reason, a higher rated conference. Next would be the Pac 10 especially Cal. because the high number of recruits in California. Least attractive would be the ACC, considered a weak league in football, and basically a basketball league. Kentucky, even though its a SEC team, for the same reason, basically known for its basketball. But, there could be some potential at Kentucky for football.
One other thing, this move by Debbie Yow could mean she's looking at moving out of the ACC.

Sucks for them that the rules don't call for the head-to-head winner to be the division champ in this situation. Fortunately for them, our post-season ban allowed them to back into the championship game anyway.

That's not how it works. Postseason ban=no bowl game. The bowls could care less about "quality wins", as long as you have at least six of them.

Yeah, hampered us so severely that we had to "settle" for a coach who won "only" 8 games in his first year (with no defense), beat our little sister on 10/27 and 11/3, and cost Opie his job. We actually regret that last one, but we're happy with the others.

  • hovis Nov 26, 2012

How attractive a school is depends on the coach a lot. I think NCSU could be attractive as most of the schools on this list because Yow will likely not flinch at writing a big check if she can get someone that she really wants. If the money is comparable, there are a lot of advantages as far as long term security at a place like State versus the often quick to be fired SEC coaching carousel. The only disadvantage State has right now is the roster and how quickly the new coach will be expected to win at State.
