Well, good. Should we be expecting Gruden today or tommorrow then? But really, of course it is a good job. Unlike a bunch of those others it is also a place where 8 or 9 wins can be respected unlike some 8 or 9 win teams can still cause your departure at some other places. And Yow is likely to make it a well paying destination also.

Thanks flagship. I thought about adding that, but was trying to avoid the non-stop first grade sniping in here. Guess we know what grade heelman73 is still in mentally -- he's even resorted to "potty" comments....sad, really.

Between whizzing and sleeping, does anybody in CFS ever watch the game?

Here's an AP article that doesn't even mention the State opening.

    http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/8680911/boise-state-chris-petersen-dismisses-latest-links-coaching-vacancies

One article praises while one seems to diss the Aggies. Well, maybe they didn't intend to diss them - it just escaped their memory that the Fack even exists.

Pre-season polls aren't much to go on, wouldn't you agree? No games have been played, no one has seen how the frosh will be with returning players, etc. The football story isn't quite the same. Next time, try comparing apples to apples. :)

I don't care anymore. The dramaking can have his little hissyfit for all I care. I'm going to laugh at things I think are funny. I don't care who's posting. I guess I'll be on his "list" now, too. Oh well. :)

Maybe State can get Hokie to take over. He coached in HS so he is an expert in college and professional coaching. He could even tell the other coaches that they aren't worthy because they didn't attend the school they are coaching.

Thanks Dream. I think Yow realizes that football pays the way, and getting a winner is paramount to State's future. I said for the last 2 years that I liked TOB, but was very excited to meet the coach after him.

The future's so bright, I gotta wear shades.

I think that State can pull in a good coach, one with a proven record and a bright future. They have great attendance at games, great facilities and I also believe that Yow will pay what it takes. Good luck Puppies, I hope you get one.

NC State is the most desirable vacancy there is! Nick Saban is coming to Raleigh! Give me my Lunatic Fringe card right now, and I don't care if McMahon delivers it or not. Beaten by UNC in football. Obama term #2. The reality of State basketball. Tom "THE MAN" O'Brien canned. The meltdowns are hilarious, though not unexpected.

The facilities are great. We can thank Chuckie A. for that. However, they were great when Tom "THE MAN" O'Brien came as well. I'm not holding out any hope for the future of State football.

This is from an insider article that ranked NC State as the #3 job available to win right away, based on polling former coaches

    3. North Carolina State Wolfpack
Current coach: Tom O'Brien | Current record: 5-4

This is the only school on this list with a winning record and, quite frankly, wasn't on my "Would you take this job?" list when I started calling around. But nearly everyone I talked to brought it up as a position they expected to be opening, and one they would salivate over.
"Have you seen the facilities in Raleigh?" a West Coast coordinator asked. "If you were at that stadium 15 years ago and then you were there over the last year, then you can see how committed they are to the program. That fan base is a sleeping football giant. And there is a ton of talent in North Carolina that leaves every year. O'Brien is a good X's and O's guy but he's never taken to recruiting. Get a real recruiter in there and he would mop up." From the outside, the idea of taking an ACC job might seem like the wrong direction. But everyone I talked to said the opposite -- as long as it's the right ACC job. "That conference is ripe for the picking," the West Coast coordinator continued. "It would take no time at all to start racking up big numbers and getting BCS berths. You can make a hell of a living doing that. Just ask Virginia Tech. NC State is the kind of place that can get to that level, and in a hurry. The other ACC jobs that might be out there -- Boston College and Maryland -- they're a hundred miles behind State."
