Gott Dykes?
State looks like they will soon. Carry on.
RE: Gott Dykes?
Kind of funny, actually. Too bad most of the uber-pc crowd at Orange County Remedial College will probably be up in arms about his last name. SMH
RE: Gott Dykes?
So, does this mean that State will score 50+ in the bowl game? Speaking of bowl games, how would Belk bowl not take State given a choice?

Got Bubba?
RE: Gott Dykes?
i'm not completely sold on this...only because i don't know how well he'll be able to recruit. he certainly has the offensive know how, and the defense should be ok if he hires a solid def coord (maybe tenuta).
does he have the name recognition and personality that top tier recruits will be drawn to? that's the million dollar question. or two million i guess in this case.

You never know with the step up coaches until you give them a try. He sure did a good job where he was this year. It might or might not work but it beats the heck out of not trying to improve.
RE: Gott Dykes?
hovis...
you're absolutely right. coaches have to get their shot somewhere, otherwise we wouldn't have urban meyer, brian kelly, and a bunch of other successful guys that came from mid major schools.
i can accept changing coaches every 6-7yrs looking for the right guy instead of languishing around .500 every year and playing in lower to middle tier bowl games. in my opinion, if you aren't getting better then you're getting worse.

Dykes will be the new coach, just a matter of finalizing the contract.
And he can recruit, so I wouldn't worry about that. While at Texas Tech rivals had him rated as one of the top 10 recruiters in the nation. Add to it that he'll start off by adding the #2 dual threat QB in the nation and I think fans will be surprised.
He even beat out Ole Miss and Miss St. for recruits at La. Tech. Of course the game will change as he will be recruiting new territory in the East and SE as opposed to the midwest. The big thing is, Dykes is bringing his offensive coordinator who is one of the most innovative minds for the spread offense. Should entice some nice athletes. Wouldn't mind if he left behind his DC though..

I keep hearing that Franklin, Yow's friend at Vanderbilt, is going to be the one. I know Yow said he wasn't being considered, but, sometimes that's to throw everyone off.

It'd be a long shot to pull him from the SEC to
ANY ACC school
