Does this make everyone feel better about the ACC

RE: Does this make everyone feel better about the ACC

I think it was more of a message to the Turtles that the rest of the ACC expects them to pay up in full as they leave and not to let the door hit them where the "moon don't shine."

Don't let the door hit you where the good lord split you

If this works out somehow, and all we lost was Maryland, but we got Louisville in their place... I'll be pleased with the transaction. Never did like Maryland.

Nobody did except under armor.

Well, isn't that nice, the illusion of solidarity. I don't buy it, you don't buy it, and even the ACC presidents, if injected with truth serum, don't buy one word of this. Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany wouldn't buy it, either, if he wasn't so busy counting his money.

It would be nice if the statement were true, but what we've seen in the past two and a half years invalidates every word. Remember when the Big East put out a similar statement in September 2011?

The realignment rage is far from over, and the chances of the ACC preventing another raid from a richer league like the Big Ten are slim to none.

It's just a statement, but I do hope that the ACC will hold together for a few more years. 50 million to leave will be tough on some schools. Maryland had to make this move, and I really hated to see this.

This is probably closer to reality than the ACC's Presidents' letter, IMHWPO.

RE: Does this make everyone feel better about the ACC

Let me answer this question with a question. How many 80,000 plus stadiums does the ACC have? The fan base is key to football success which is in turn key to atheletic program finacial success. I don't know excactly, but Miami, FSU, Clemson, and VT are likely the only ones who come close. You can put on all the light blue or red paint, plant shrubs and make things pretty, but that does not add numbers to the fan base. An additional 20K fans is $1M or more per game. The ACC schools aren't serious yet.
