Recruiting is the most important need. At least it was the most glaring need in the past.

The OC position is up in the air, Chaney was just a candidate who was in Raleigh and had interviewed the other day. Other names who have been thrown around include Matt Wells (OC Utah State) and Seth Littrell (OC Indiana). Chaney would be my preference of the three.

The definite hire so far is Nielsen for DL/Recruiting Coordinator. Ashe is close to being a done deal for DC as well. State has also contacted Tommy Thigpen (Auburn) about his interest at the LB position. He coached at UNC before Butch really got things going over there and is a monster recruiter. He may be in line for higher profile jobs, however.

As was already stated, this sounds great, you're never going to go very far with poor coaching, but you can have the best teacher in the world and still not amount to much (see Shavlik Randolph). I am happy we are putting the pieces in place, but I think patience is the word with regards to football.

Still young, but not green. Staying with someone he's worked with before. Good bio and credentials. I like it! Hope he's up to the task.
