Yea. Me too. Going from #6 to #25 says it all. Too much hype. Same for K'Tucky.

You can learn a lot more about teams by looking at other measures. Some make State look good, others turn the rankings around. At this stage I don't think any of it matters a lot; too soon. And at this point in the season, I think Duke is in the lead over State or Carolina, and all three still have a lot of work to do.

In that spirit, note the assist to turnover rates for the three schools.

I think that it matters when all wins vs losses count in the big picture of obtaining an NCAA berth. These games played thus far will count come March. Look at VT over the years. The most of all bubble teams in my memory. Every win/loss counts. Duke is heads above all ACC teams right now.

unc70. It does matter in this early season. If you don't win at least 20 games you can't get in. Then, they look at the SOS.

I agree about the won-loss, though I expect each of these three teams to be in the 20 game range this year. I know the problems that VT has had in the past. While I expect VT to win 20 this test, they and MD do not have much of a cushion and could easily finish with anywhere from 18 to 22 wins.

I was mostly commenting on the other stats, not the W-L. Shooting percentage or assist ratios don't mean all that much at this point in the season. By mid-Feb they will.
