I think so, too. I believe coach Doeren (and his assistants) were responsible for 11-12 of the players we signed. TOB was recruiting the others. That is NOT BAD, especially for a guy that basically had six weeks to recruit for us. And we have three players that have 4-stars ratings in one or more of the recruiting ranking websites (rivals, scout, 24-7 sports, etc.)

This would be a great time to have a good season, so coach D can really work on his first FULL recruiting class at State.

TBK,Give it a few years and I think we will be ok.I love the new coach we have and very excited to see what happens.I hope he is a more of a passing coach and not a conservative coach.

Getting back on topic. Didn't a 3 star DB from Hillside High (Wiggins) sign with Clemson AFTER committing to UNC? As the goat-master (Smitty) says, it happens everywhere!

    UNC FANS ARE LIARS
    and so are their coaches!

I heard State was 6th in the ACC. Signing day still going strong. Hard to say where the recruiting class rankings will settle in the end.

All I know is I'm pretty pleased with our class so far, considering our coach has only been here about six weeks now.

OK.....UNC is States Superbowl!!!!!! I admit and so does Wolfhizzy. We suck as a program and beating UNC once every 6 years is satisfying to us!!!!

How sad is that????? But so True!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

State BEAT unc, yet you point to the pansies beating wake as something to behold.

alas, the panies canNOT beat State.

sorry, how that worked out for ya, doll face.

Come on Wolfhizzy....as State fans we must pull together and change the current mindset of our fans and raise our expectations up to more than just beating Carolins every 5 or 6 years.
We need a real program. Carolina cannot be the only game we worry about trying to win every so many years!
Come on man....are you with me????????????????

^^so CRYoWHINEa is better than Wake, but NOT better than State.

    neat, how that works out.

why would anyone want to come play for us?

We expect and settle for so little from our teams and coaches

We need to reaise our expectations and support only the best and fire Gottfired ASAP!!!!!

We blow right now and need to address that when we have such great talent! As we speak Carolina is beating the krap out of Wake Forest a team that beat us easily. And now we face our 3rd loss in a row to Duke.

We need to do something drastic!!!!!

"Heels acknowledge/accept the 6 years of Butch and Withers mediocrity." Which heels are you referring to? Or are you speaking for all heels? I have found your statement untrue from what I read and hear from some UNC fans.

Heels acknowledge/accept the 6 years of Butch and Withers mediocrity.

wolffies revel/celebrate the the 6 years of TOBy mediocrity.

Fedora and 2012 (and the divisional championship) set the tone for better things to come.

TOBy and 2012 set the tone for lesser things to come.

For the most part, scouts get it right with the five star recruits. Most of them pan out. Beyond that, their track record is spotty. They are far more likely to underrate 2 and 3 star players than to overrate the 4 stars.

The only way you can tell how good a class is is by their eventual performance on the field. Just remember that Colin Kaepernick wasn't highly rated coming out of high school. At 2 stars, he was only offered by Nevada. But he turned out OK. Then, of course, there was that local kid - Wilson, wasn't it? How did he turn out?

The trick isn't recruiting X-number of stars. It's finding kids whose skill set matches your schemes, then coaching them well.

Interesting how this situation turned out, isn't it? We lost the aforementioned unranked safety to Duke and upgraded to a commitment from the #29 nationally rated safety, Josh Jones.

    Chris Holmes - http://rivals.yahoo.com/footballrecruiting/football/recruiting/player-Chris-Holmes-131043

    Jones Jones - http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncstate/football/recruiting/player-Joshua-Jones-134372;_ylt=AiSwEOFIky26klUJaa56svc4s5B4

Further, Doeren has been quite impressive on the recruiting trail thus far, moving State from last in the ACC up to #6. And keep in mind that this doesn't even include the additions of Jacoby Brissett (4 star transfer QB from Florida) or Travares Copeland (3 star WR transfer from WVU). He is also responsible for the commitments of Jonathan Alston (picked State over UNC), two top 50 DT's (Kenton Gibbs and Monty Nelson), and keeping Matt Dayes in the fold (held offers from Arkansas, Tennessee, and was HEAVILY courted by Vanderbilt).
