He ran a clean program and represented the university well. I guess the "Carolina Way" is alive and well and residing in West Raleigh. Best wishes.

Tough break for UVA to hire these 2 klowns. This will set their program back a few years until they fire them.

    LOL.

For some reason, 'dynamic' does not come to mind when thinking TOBy.

Not showing a lot of smarts. Trading 1.2 over 4 years for a lump 200,000 and have to live in Virignia again. Why would anyone want to do this? Charleston versus Charlottesville? TOB obviously understands retirement about as well as he does modern football.

Smart move by the Wolfpack on this one. Saved a lot of money and face no foreseeable competitive threat by this move.

No doubt. Best of luck to him (except against NCSU).

TOB will be the tight ends and assistant head coach at UVA.

"The Wolfpack had agreed to pay O'Brien's buyout, $1.2 million spread over four years, but the deal had a non-compete clause, preventing him from coaching at another ACC school. However, NC State AD Debbie Yow stated today that the two sides have worked out an agreement where O'Brien can now pursue any coaching opportunity.

"We agreed to two decisions with Coach O'Brien," said Yow in a statement. "First, NC State waived his non-compete clause so that he could fully pursue other coaching opportunities. Second, NC State agreed to pay a lump sum of $200,000 as complete satisfaction of the university's obligation to pay liquidated damages under the remaining years in the contract.
