^^^ Battling. I agree about Leslie. He has the talent and skills. Howell is getting the most ink right now. His double doubles are really strong. Leslie probably doesn't like all of this stuff.

Agreed, Hokie! I still think State has the potential to do good things. They're very balanced on offense. Leslie is playing well but I saw something in the BC game that needs to be addressed for the sake of the team. Late in the game on a couple of occasions, Gott appeared to be "drawing up a play" & I noticed on each occasion that Leslie seemed to be disinterested, looking around the BC arena, etc. That would annoy me as a coach. Close game, still have a chance to win & ALL players need to be listening to their coach. Looks bad! IMO

We agree Battling. No one is in front of Manning--for sure.

Duke needs to improve in rebounding and FT's. When they get a few more percentages in these two areas they can roll. UNC is maybe between 4-6 best team in the ACC. Look out for MD. UVA is coming on too. I would select MD right beside NC State right now. State is over-rated. MD wins one more game and they will be ranked.

Agreed about when it should be decided....after the season. That would be the common sense way of handling things. As it is now, Peyton for POY & RG3 for ROY.

I didn't realize this. I would have thought that it would based upon the entire body of work. POY is Peyton Manning. ROY is perhaps RG3. Wilson close. I think that it should be decided after all games are played.

Get what you're saying, Hokie, but the ballots were cast prior to the playoffs. Based on that, I'm sticking with RG3 as the fav. If they waited until after the playoffs, RW would be a slam dunk at this point. Whether it's Luck, RG3 or RW, the player selected will be very deserving.

Since Wilson and his team are now moving forward vs Luck and RG3, I think it gives him a slight edge. I do believe that RG3 is a tad better than Wilson in some respects, but Wilson showed something to this team in leadership, and he made some huge plays to overcome the odds. Plus being a 3rd rounder, it only enhances what the pundants missed about his desire, leadership ability, and simply thinking himself to make solid plays. I'm not a Pete Carroll fan either.

I doubt RW will get a lot of support for MVP/POY. Not with the seasons that Adrian Peterson and Peyton Manning have had. But he should certainly be in contention for ROY in a season with more outstanding rookie performances than any in memory. It's a shame for the great players who won't win it this year.

I think RGIII is hurt by the contributions other rookies on his team have made to the Skins' successes. I think he came into the season as the frontrunner, and that hurts him also, as some voters will be looking at him as having nowhere to go but down. Luck has given his team the biggest turnaround (which is how the Colts got him in the first place). He has also had some great fourth quarter comebacks and gaudy stats.

But all that being said, my sense is that RW has been getting the most love from the on air pundits over the past few weeks, and that momentum just might get him over the top. I expect this to be one of the closest ROY votes in years.

Sure hope so. The kid is a born winner. He won't get the POY, and I suspect he won't get the ROY either because of the bigger names, but he won't care.

I shouldn't have even started this one. This is only my 3rd blog since 07. I would have thought that more people could have written more for a QB that gave State some upward mobility. TOB made his decision. I respect that too. This small 5'11" didn't have a chance. 3rd rounder. See what he has done folks. That's all.

No. I stated that I dislike a cheating Pete Carroll. RW earned this one. Go back to my title. I did have RG3 last week. Not today. Wilson earned it by winning the game today. Wilson is the last Rookie standing. How can he not be the best rookie on this Sunday? Wilson deserves this honor. He deserves this honor in spite of my dislike for his HC. I can only change my words on here yactfirst. You read me now??

When looking at the top rookies. I had RG3 on the edge of RW last week. Luck did a super job today. His receivers dropped passes, and they lost the game. He did his job, but they look at wins. Unfortunately. RG3 is playing hurt. Wilson wins this one by winning. He's not the best of the 3, but his stats surely count. I would have picked any of the 3 two weeks ago. Wins count. I dislike Pete Carroll as much as I dislike most politicians. They can give it to RG3 or Luck, and I'll be OK.

Yeah, thought the same thing. His mobility suffered once he retweaked that knee. At the end when it buckled it hurt me to watch that one. RW had the better team behind him and played the better game. I also thought the play calling hurt RGIII some when they started getting cute and got away from the power running game off the right side and shorter passes. RW definitely made a strong case for himself today. If they beat the Niners, I think it will be his.

The coaches called this one. He convinced them to play. To be up 14-0 early... As bad as I dislike Pete Carroll, they stood up today. Wilson was the play maker. He should be ROY. He has led his team further than RGIII, and Luck. This is the major factor.

I have always liked Wilson and respected him. It wasn't his fault entirely to move on to another school. He's one of the smartest players in the NFL. He also has the feet to make it another play. Pete is kinda like Lane Kiffen. Both are weeds.

I don't like Pete Carroll either Hokie. RW was very poised today. Glad to see him win. I don't like the Redskins.

This probably ticks some State fans. Redskins fans. And others. Wilson is still keeping his team in the winners circle. Like I stated. I don't even like Pete Carroll after his days at USC. He moved on, and he had to move on. Russell Wilson is a gamer. He's still standing tall. I don't think that he has the skills as does RG3, but his team had a little more today.

  • VT1994Hokie Jan 6, 2013

Luck and RG3 did great jobs as rookies this season. Luck didn't get much help today from his receivers. To see Wilson take this team from 14-0, and come back, he's Rookie POY in my IMO. He has played with poise, determination, and his fellow players responded from his leadership. RW has is between the ears. I never liked Pete Carroll all that much, but he's a player's coach. Wilson has placed this team in a special place right now. He's going to become one of the best QB's in the NFL in the future.
