I agree, but the yelling "red!" at the point where the song actually has the word "red" is not really the problem.

I absolutely do have a problem with the fans changing the words of the song at the end. It's home of the "brave", not "wolfpack". That is not OUR song, it's EVERYBODY'S song, and it deserves respect and reverence.

Head are not unsportsmanlike as they are brandished by fans, not the sportsmen themselves. Would you call the overwhelming heat in Cameron unsportsmanlike? Fans and their presence are part of the game, whether they observe quitely or get rowdy as was the case as last nights NCSU Ga Tech game. Moreover you are wasting your time trying to talk this gaggle of trolls into behaving on here. WRAL doesn't moderate because it keeps hits up on the website.

No crying just showing that this type of behavior is offensive to us who have served and sacrificed. By your comment I can figure you never had the guts to put on a uniform and protect this country!

What really shows no class is when the National Anthem is being played State fans yelling out Red in the middle of the song and puncuating it with home of the Wolfpack at the end. Realize that many people have sacrificed greatly so you can have such freedom and treat the Anthem with the respect that is due. As a Marine Veteran I take great offense to this behavior.

    Riiiiight.

And Karl Hess booted Fire and Googs for holding a quiet, reserved prayer session behind the scorer's table...is that going to be your next "story"?

    SMH, but hardly surprised.

Having worked with high school players and knowing quite a few college players, the signs are not a distraction. They focus on the hoop, not the crowd. Our HC at the local high school plays obnoxious crowd noises while the team practices foul shots just so the team can learn how to ignore the noise and distractions.

When you have ex players getting thrown out of games, then expect any kind of classless behavior. Next thing you know, they be coming out in a speedo.

i don't think it's bad sportsmanship...i think it's part of the home court advantage. unless of course the signs are bad taste (vulgar, racist, etc).

I don't see it as a problem. Athletes need to overcome adversity during games and this is just part of it. Just like I don't believe booing at a player is bad sportmanship either. Or in football when the crowd get so loud the opposing team has to call a timeout because they can't hear the snap-count. I think everyone has their own line and that's okay. I think it's poor sportsmanship to cheer when a player is hurt, but that's just me and some would disagree. It's just part of it and it's just a game.

But, comparing your season to a tragedy that kills thousands and talking about shooting people with a BB gun is NOT classless behavior? Or, how about looking down one's nose as they point out someone elses classless behavior?

Dean forbade it at Flagship U. when he coached there, and Roy follows suit.

    That's enough for me.

Classless behavior is just classless behavior.

Some fans can make the distinction...other ^less fortunate fans^ (*wink*) cannot.

    Pity.

As far as 'sportsmanship' I've always considered that something between two 'sportsmen'. Bad sportsmanship would be a player on the lane screaming at the shooter just as he releases the ball. Fans are not 'sportsmen', they are spectators. I would say the proper question is whether it is proper 'etiquette' for the opposing teams fans to do this, not proper 'sportsmanship'.

  • Wolfpackindahizzy4shizzy Jan 9, 2013

    LOL

NO, of course it's NOT bad sportsmanship... sport is NOT for pansies.

The question is not if the rules allow it but is it something that displays good sportsmanship or bad? You seem to be quite a unique fan but thanks for the feedback. I have asked this question on the Carolina site as well as for your information I have not received what I would consider an intelligent well thought out response yet from the NCSU site so I do not think your bragging is warranted.

of course it put this question on the State board... home of the ACC's ONLY fan base capable of answering a sports question intelligently.

it KNOWS that would have been a LOST CAUSE on the other triangle team's boards.

    good for it.

I think something is seriously wrong with you TB in NC as you keep referring to me as someone else. I am not sure what your problem is but I again ask you to just not respond if you do not have a sincere answer to my questions. This is for my project. If I have done something to antagonize you I am sorry. I am interested in your responses to the other posts by fans and particularly how you respond to the other temas fans. But I really would like data now on fans thoughts as to this practice done by some schools during free throws. Thaks and have a great evening.
I am watching the NCSU game and thye look like they are playing well though GT is hanging right there with them. I thiught they would blow GT out tonight but not the case.

TB in NC I am sorry you continue to refer to me as someone else however please do not block my questions about the game and strategies. If you are not a willing participant then please just do not reply. Your atitiude has been noted in my earlier posts and not appreciated when I am trying to collect data. This is being used as part of my work for one of my classes. Thanks and sorry if I have offended you at all as that is not my intention.

[quote=11960906]Post by MoDuke v2[/quote thanks however I would think if allowed, it happens, and if not it does not. Most of the signs at games are handed out and not brought by fans themselves to the games.

As part of my research I would like to know how many of you feel that it is acceptable behavior for schools to allow the huge Head posters, spinning target posters etc to be waved around behind the goal posts when teams are shooting foul shots. I have noticed some schools do not allow this at all and others have it like a 3 ring circus. Please let me know your thoughts.
