I.E., TOBy could have kept Russell...

    Recruited a top-notch xfer...

or enticed a very good Brosius to stay...

    but used poor judgement...

which left the wolffies in a dire situation...

with the most important position on the field.

(by the way, kato saw the Middle Creek QB play many times -- he is even more zombie-like than Glennon...with less arm strength)

Well no not really. You wanted to make comments running down the program and I simply was asking about the situation for the coming season. It looks like they have the Middle Creek QB Leatham that was a very good drop back passer in HS but not very mobile. They have the CSU transfer Thomas that had to sit out 2012 and Stocker that I guess is a redshirt freshman if he didn't have to play any this last year. So I guess Thomas and Stocker would most likely be fighting it out for the starting job next year.

Manny Stocker or Pete Thomas. More than likely PT, but who knows what coach DD's choice will be for '13.

BTW, TB the words were from JB's high school & FLA teamate Elam(DB) that is leaving for the NFL.

Actually, it was an appropriate reply to your question.

TOBy gambled on Glennon and a program-setting 2012 season...

and left himself without a job...

(btw, TOBy's stance on baseball ran the wolffie's best QB prospect for 2013 away...Tyler Brosius)
and his (former) team without a viable QB option for 2013.

Any QB is a good transfer at this point given the shape of the Pack cupboards...even if he runs scout team or 2nd string...if he's talented and works hard, he WILL get his shot. Like I said, very good pull for the Pack.

That has absolutely nothing to do with my question. Glennon wasn't an option for 2013 regardless of the Russell situation. I was asking about the QB options for next year. I know they have the former Middle Creek QB and this years back up. I know that Brian Taylor opted not to play football this last year but I wonder what the possibility of his return to the team might be. TOB didn't want his players playing baseball and Taylor is planning on playing baseball.

Since a couple of his teammates at Fla. think he's a great QB (one referred to him as Heisman Trophy material- his words, not mine), I'm looking forward to see if it's a good transfer for both him and State.

    TOBy could have kept Russell...

let Glennon take his ball and play elsewhere...

and had a proven xfer in place...

and still have his job at Western Blvd U...

    but NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

the COWARD is clearly upset that I OWNED it so badly in the Glennon Draft Status thread, which was about JUST THAT, NFL DRAFT STATUS... again, folks, this is yet ANOTHER example of WHY, if you're a pastel pansy fan, you truly shouldn't attempt to discuss something (NFL QBs) that you know NOTHING about.

Again, are you that stooopid. Uber rhetorical question. "Essentially, you are". No one told him he "couldn't", once you offer up your QB spots, you can't promise a scholly to play QB and lie to the kid. Kudos to UNC for being forthright with their now faulty plans and handing the Pack a gift of a lifetime. It's the same reason you don't have the PG position on your basketball team 4 deep in scholly players. Just remember, I don't lie. BTW, missed you in Atlanta. How good is Brissett?

Well, I haven't seen him play enough, so I knocked on the door of the SEC blog to see what those guys had to say. Florida defensive back Matt Elam, who went to high school with Brissett, gave his take via Twitter:

ElamVsElo2: For all the "supposedly" Florida fans I am a @JBrissett12 fan, I can careless what other dudes can do, I'm for the fam!

ElamVsElo2: If you are recruit and you play receiver, go to NC State..! Lol..!

ElamVsElo2: Ay world mark my words please! The NC STATE WOLFPACK WILL HAVE A HEISMAN TROPHY WINNER IN THE NEXT TWO YEARS iSWEA..!

    High praise from the Gator.

This is a very good pick up for State. All this talk about he was not good enough for Miami is just plain silly. Miami just does not have the scholarship for another qb. He was highly recruited out of hs and no acc achool could land him, now a lot of acc schools would love to have him. If UF's qb would have entered the draft early like I'm sure he was hoping, he would have been UF's starter next year. When he announced that he was leaving UF, a lot of bigtime programs were interested in him, any back up qg for UF would probably be a starter for about any acc team. And he did appear in 11 games at UF, so to say he isn't that good because he didn't start is silly. If a winning team has a starter they are not going to bence him no matter how good the back up is. Look how long Young sat on the bench behind Montana, it just doesn't happen. I'm not going to do any leg work for anybody but you can look it up, the story I saw on ESPN said that as many as 11 major schools had an interest in him and maybe more, amoung them were Bama, Texas A&M, Clemson, USC, and I can't remember the rest but there were other sec schools and I think a big 10 and another pac school. This is a very good pick up for State and he will learn the program while sitting out next year and be ready to start. Next year will be a rebuilding year for State because of the lack of recruiting that TOB left, but picking up a player like this will help make the rebuilding much faster. And it also helps open up another recruiting pipeline.

Yeah Buckets, you are so correct. Fedora had 81 kids on the roster at the end of this last season that were Sophomores, Freshmen, or Redshirt Freshmen. Can't put all your eggs in a one QB bazsket so hopefully the Pack can get at least 3 and let them compete. TOBy definitely did not leave Doeren with near as much to work with as Butch left Fedora. I'm sure that was a factor in Fedora taking the job in spite of the NCAA sanctions because with so much youth and the sanctions, if he had a down year, it was not really going to hurt the program in the long run. Of course, going 8-4 with that much youth and a really nice recruiting class is a big help. IMHTHO TOBy needed to go last year so this recruiting year could have been so much better for the Pack.

  • Rameses Unchained Jan 18, 2013

I will say at this point ANY QB pull is a good QB pull for the Pack considering the mountain Doeren must climb to rebuild. Hope the kid works out, he definitely has some skills and talent.
