Manti Te'o
I don't even really know what to say about this, you have to read it for yourself. It's almost unbelievable. If this is true, it will be the sports story of the year.

RE: Manti Te'o
Appears to be true. Notre Dame has already released a statement claiming Manti and his family are victims of what appears to be a hoax.
Notre Dame Statement: Manti Te'o
On Dec. 26, Notre Dame coaches were informed by Manti Te'o and his parents that Manti had been the victim of what appears to be a hoax in which someone using the fictitious name Lennay Kekua apparently ingratiated herself with Manti and then conspired with others to lead him to believe she had tragically died of leukemia. The University immediately initiated an investigation to assist Manti and his family in discovering the motive for and nature of this hoax. While the proper authorities will continue to investigate this troubling matter, this appears to be, at a minimum, a sad and very cruel deception to entertain its perpetrators.

RE: Manti Te'o
Why the **** would anyone spend so much effort to do such a thing?
RE: Manti Te'o
No worries, Gov Martin's bags are packed and he's flying on Tami's private charter to South Bend. UNC will get to the bottom of this like they did with all the monkey business over the last 3 decades in their house!

Following Notre Dame's 20-3 win over Michigan State on Sept. 15, Teo said: "My family and my girlfriend's family have received so much love and support from the Notre Dame family," Te'o said. "Michigan State fans showed some love. And it goes to show that people understand that football is just a game, and it's a game that we play, and we have fun doing it But at the end of the day what matters is the people who are around you, and family. I appreciate all the love and support that everybody's given my family and my girlfriend's family." ESPN
Looks like somebody engaged in a publicity stunt & got busted.
Hoax
This is bad.

It's beyond bad...it's pathetic!
RE: Manti Te'o
Thank goodness Manziel won the Heisman. Could you imagine how much worse this would be if he actually won that and then this hoax got revealed?
The articles say ND and his family was informed of the hoax on Dec 26th. Not that ND had a chance anyway, but this certainly helps explain another reason why he couldn't tackle any of the Bama backs and receivers 2 weeks later.

Amen.
How anyone of prominence could ever expect to pull off such a ruse in this day and age is beyond me.

I 100% agree ....... and good point about his tackling in the BCS championship game, there must have been something bothering him, that explains it.
