The banners clearly state what they won. Either Regular Season Championship or Tournament Championship. The ACC recognizes the tournament champion each season as the Conference Champion. As long as a banner for a year doesn't say Conference Champion when they didn't win the ACC Tournament that year, that banner is fine.

You might want to tell all the national media outlets who call the winner of the regular season the "regular season ACC champions" how you feel! You know, the ones who thought so highly of State before the season started. Obviously they are wrong sometimes! Lol! Besides, stop worrying about what you haven't accomplished in almost 3 decades. Win and then you're allowed to have an opinion!

Maybe you did not read my response(pg 2) to the1.

" So, that means they are wrong with acception to the ones prior to 1961 or the ones NCAA or ACC Tournament related. It does not matter whether ANYBODY or ANY school(including NCSU) says it or boast about a regular season title.Since 1961(50+ years) the FACT is that it is NOT official. According to ACC bylaws the SOLE Champion is the ACC tournament winner. "

18 is a fair ranking. We have shown the ability to play at a top-ten level but the teams there are doing so consistently.

As far as this ACCT/Regular season stuff goes, let's lay off the semantics for a bit. The tourney is obviously more important game for game (see FSU last year) but having the best record through 16/18 games in a top conference is also impressive. If NC State happens to be the #1 seed going into the conference tourney or wins the tourney, I'd be very happy. I'd be ecstatic with both!

Sorry, meant to say Dr. Yow. NC State's athletics are so irrelevant that I didn't recognize her name at first.

But yeah, get on that letter and please let us know what she says in reply. Hopefully some banners will come down in the PNC arena so y'all will feel better about everything.

CORRECT.. the ONLY bad thing, would be to allow yourself to proclaim your team as the ACC CHAMPS, withOUT winning the ACC Tourney.

it would be ALMOST as sad as proclaiming yourselves Division Champs, when your pathetic, CHEATING, program had already been DISMISSED from the running for it.

The team with the BEST regular season record gets the #1 seed in the ACC tournamenent. I hate to be redundant, but I have to keep reminding ewenc & University of New Jersey fans that there is NO regular season Champion/ Title.

Tournament as championshipThe ACC is unique in the fact that it is the only Division I college basketball conference that does not recognize a regular season title. This is because of the fact that in the days where only one school made the NCAA tournament per league, the ACC representative was determined by the conference tournament, rather than the regular season as other leagues did. Therefore, the league eliminated the regular season title in 1961 and has chosen to solely recognize the winner of the ACC tournament as the league champion ever since. Fans and media do sometimes claim a regular-season title for the team that finishes first, but these titles are unofficial and carry no reward other than the top seed in the ACC tournament.

"Notably, all champions after 1961 are considered unofficial by the conference, as the ACC elected to eliminate the regular season title following that season. Since then, the conference's bylaws have stated the sole champion is the winner of the ACC Tournament, a rule that remains in place to this day. The conference's automatic NCAA berth is reserved for the winner of the ACC Tournament at the end of the season."

I think Miami deserves a little more respect than they're getting.

And I think State's #18 ranking is fair. Losing to Maryland, we don't deserve a top-10 ranking. Not yet. Gotta earn it.

State kollege, preseason winner of ACC and National Chumpionship drops 4 more slots. Initially the team was ranked #6 nationally but now seems to have found a home li the lower end of the top 25. Sad when it is a team retruning 4 starters from last year and 4 McDs......State best effort in over 2 decades is still only ranked 18th. Sad to think of all they lose next year and where the team will fall once again. A blip on the screen.....this year.....next year....NADA! Bahhaaaaaa!!!! LOLOLOL.

State is a solid top 20 team unless the injury bug or something catastrophic happens. They will be in the hunt for the ACC regular season title all year. Unc will need to get something going hardcore to avoid playing on Thursday in the acc tournament.
