Seems you need to know that if you are a frontrunner, you shouldn't whine like a basement dweller, but it's ToolSAC and you are our basement guru. Here is a hint, man up and play past it if you want to be a top tier team. Bet you want to beat the greeskeeper everytime you miss a putt.

Badger will be out in force blaming this on the refs in 3...2...1...oh, dang, he's already posted about it. One thing about the little furry critter, he is consistent. Just think, if not for the refs, NCSU would be undefeated, well, at least according to Badger.

Teams normally lose when it is 8-against-5.

I don't always blame the refs. The refs didn't cost us the games against Ok St., Michigan, or even Maryland.

But last night, the officiating was horrendous. I knew it was over when they called one particular charge on State. The Wake player was standing there, arms straight up (rule of verticality), waiting for the charge. Our guy (Lo maybe?) drove in and collided with him and they called the charge.

The problem is the Wake player lowered BOTH arms about 30 degrees forward, into our shooter, before the body "charge" contact was made. That makes it no longer a charge, but a foul on the defense. It was an EASY call to make, and they called it wrong. That told me it was 8 against 5 last night.

Just when I was beginning to feel a little better about the ACC officiating. Oh well, it's over now. On to Saturday. Hope they let us play in THAT game since they stole this one from us.

Exactly. So many ACC games are being dominated by the officials. They call a foul on EVERY possession.
It ruins the game for the players and the fans. Just look at the Stanford game this year with Pac12 refs -- much better game to watch.
Congrats to WFU -- they played a great 2nd half.

I think the new strategy for beating State is the same as the old strategy for beating State...put more points on the board than the aggies do. Looks like Wake figured it out.

State beats Duke then the networks assigns Bilas and now Gminski to do the games. Conspiricy, hmmmmm?

they called 44 FOULS, but swallowed their whistles on the last real play of the game where CJ Leslie had a chance to make the go ahead basket... he got mugged good... then gave teddy valentine an absolute EAR FULL.... and teddy knew better than to T him up, since he'd clearly BLOWN the call.

the Pack got homered..... it happens.

never is fun to watch though.

the new strategy to beating State is to HACK THEM at every chance.... embarrassing, but.. when they can't compete on an ATHLETIC level, that's all they've really got.

I'm here to take my crow for my prediction (83-59 State). Good game, Wake. We sucked it up. I didn't see the game but heard we were hurt by the refs. To what extent is that true?

It shouldn't take 2 1/2 hours to play a NON OT game,

I hope the ACC got what it wanted.

That was an embarrassment of a game from an officiating standpoint.

Solid first half. I predicted Brown would have 15/7/15. He has 7/3/7. A little work to do, but we'll see what happens. Hope we have some players left at the end. Go Pack!

Or sooner. Wake doesn't stand a chance unless Howell, Leslie, Brown, and Wood all go down in the first half. Probably Coach Gottfried will get a chance to play most of his bench the second half.

As I posted earlier, I'm optimistic we right the ship in a pretty big way. Their rebounding is dismal among other things. Offensive boards have given opponents life. They won't tonight. Just hope Gottfried can rest some of the tired legs (the most valid excuse we could have come March)

I've seen Wake play well in spurts. And they did win some conference games.

I still think State walks away with an easy win tonight. The only thing that concerns me is if we're looking ahead to Saturday's game against the Holes.

Wake lost by 26 to Iona, fell to a Nebraska team with the 328th ranked offense by 16 and lost to Clemson by 16.

State will be out to right the ship after the sputtering effort against Clemson.

This one is over by the half.

Hope this one is an easy one. I haven't seen Wake this year, so no frame of reference. Every win will help toward that invitation to the dance.

A much closer game than it ought to be. Probably a 3 to 5 point game until Wake has to foul at the end then State by 9.

Any away game makes me nervous especially how the last two games have gone. Is it too much to ask for us to run away with it in the first half and maintain a comfortable lead till the end?

I'm expecting to lose a few more weeks off my life due to unnecessary stress tonight, but I think we got this.

    GO Pack!!!

It's a road game. Wake has done "OK" at home. State lost at Maryland and had a close call with Clemson. And this is a trap game since State's next game is against our most bitter rival.

I'd say State -7 is about right, based on all that.

But I do expect State to win by 15+ tonight. I kinda wish I was still a betting man so I could clean up on this one.

  • barthc98 Jan 22, 2013

State by 12. We could double that if we stay agressive, but we are still giving up too many shot opportunities. Hope this is the game that changes that.

disagree, close game......WFU has played well at home, State has not played well last two games....the JV is looking forward to their next Super Bowl on Saturday vs UNC while this is a super bowl for WFU....

Look for State to be flat in the first half and Wake to take an early lead (how big this lead is will determine the outcome) After half State will make it a game..... stay tuned.

I was going to say State by more than that even, THV. Rough first 8 minutes or so and then we really get it going. State 83, WF 59.

Even bolder prediction: Brown with 15/7/15 game.
Leslie 18/6, Howell 12/14. We'll see. Go Pack!
