Mainly the part about you should beat Wake Forest at home. While they haven't played a strong home schedule, they are still 3-0 at home in conference play. So until somebody beats them at home, don't see how you should beat them at home. Fact is that it is a real stupid statement, just about all the ACC teams stand a chance of winning at home.

It sure could be applied to other schools. Link proving otherwise? My last sentence was a jab at your fellow fanbases only retort to me at times. I'd tell you to keep up but thats been a given in this convo.

Well, at least you found the truth with your last sentence. And it is certainly no "great reveal" that logic rings hollow in your "ears". I am embarrased for you.

You are obviously incapable of understanding the original post that you yourself made, and seek instead to introduce your own subjective arguments in its stead.

Is State elite? Maybe. Maybe not. BUT!!! ... YOUR original post simply can not only be applied to state, and therefore must apply to all other schools that lose such games. Simple, simple, brutally simple logic. Period.

Poor barf. How can you refute the irrefutable? Your red herring argument (rofl I bet you use that phrase in everyday speak) makes zilch sense. You remind me of one of those guys who strings a bunch of well worded but convoluted thoughts together in an English paper you write the night before its due and get a C- on it. If you just say that ur a lunatic fringer that thinks your state team is an elite squad irregardless of the fact they have played ONE good game this season I'll let you off the hook. Your if....then scientific experiments and weeded out philosophical debate skills makes you look like someone trying to be pompous but hasnt the critical thinking skills to follow up on even that negative yet provocative trait. Again I beg you try harder. Afterall you are merely talking to a basement living troll.....

  • barthc98 Jan 25, 2013

Nice try. A clear argument was made, I clearly refuted the given argument, which forced you to introduce points irrelevent to the original argument, as you continued to do in your most recent response. Pithy enough for you?

And my god... if my use of simple everyday words from the english language seems somehow sesquipedalian to you, then how in hades did you ever get past english 101?

And you wonder why I chose the cartoon version?

I realize barf you seem to be a legend in your own mind. Let me help you. Elite teams lose all the time ( by all the time I mean Michigan here, Louisville there, and Indiana here). Elite teams don't lose here lose there lose everywhere. So use as many multisyllabic words as you can muster to string together a shallow and elementary philosophy lesson but point being and point always been: state isn't an elite team. Please dont let me take you to task anymore. Could you link The Fox and the Hound cartoon next? That cheap ripoff you provided didn't come close. Thanks so much.

As the original argument was that State is not elite by virtue of having lost to Wake, you yourself refute your own argument with the first sentence of your statement.... which is essentially in agreement with the refutations i made.

You then introduced red herring arguments in the form of claims about the fan base, allusions to previous Pack teams, and a claim that the pack is losing " regularly" now.... none of which, even if true, are relevent to thd initial argument, and are thus red herrings.

    SO: The promised primer:

Just 24 hours ago you would've said dook was an elite team with that Bull snot number one ranking. Miami mad sure that myth got debunked.

This may prove to be true by the strictest of standards.. although Michigan , Kansas, and Florida may be a close approximation by the time it's said and done... Of course the wheels could fall off at one or all of those schools too. If Duke getz kelly back it might fit in there too. "Elite" is subjective. Is top 25 elite? Sweet 16, the 8, the 4, the 2, or only (or even) the ultimate NC? I tend to think that top 25 out of 347 div 1 schools is pretty "elite" territory.

#6 Az lost tonight.... by 11 at home to UCLA.... another pretty "elite" team losing a shoulda...

  • barthc98 Jan 25, 2013

The "losing on the regular" is a logical stretch..... but is subjectively understandable for the wishful , so I won't challenge that rice cake.

The primer will not be argument. Merely a needed instructive. The profs at unc shoulda covered it.... but what-the-hey.

There are no elite teams in college basketball this year. But out of the local teams, UNC is the furthest away from elite of the three.

Elite teams lose all the time. Thats why no one goes undefeated anymore. State is not an elite team and seemsto be losing on the regular now. State is second tier and just accept it barf. Cue up you logical fallacies argument this should be good.

  • barthc98 Jan 25, 2013

I don't eat, drink, sleep, or dream State or any of the other of my favorite teams in any sport. But the fact is that elite is comparative. Disregarding the vitriolic, subjective opinion junk of your post, I stand behind the substantive points of my statement.
Elite programs do lose the occasional "shoulda " game. Refute that, if you would argue substance....But If ya just wanna throw another "state sux" red herring into the.mix, then I'll just have to pick this up tomorrow, when i will have had time to procure for you a primer on logical fallacies.

Oh my god dude. State is was and will forever be an unelite team. Your longwinded diatribe said nothing. Preseason all you yick yacks yelled to the mountain tops about the juggernaut that is state. You are still a second tier program with a fanbase still caught in la la land. God forbid you lose to a down Heels team this Saturday. There will be suicides piling up in Raleigh like none other. You're already at the brink at will be driven over with an L Saturday. Live it love it learn it.

And my point being that all of these teams have been/are/were considered to be "elite" teams..... with the possibility of miami out of that mix as they were not thusly considered at the time of their loss.

By the op point, none of these teams are/ were "elite" due to respective embarassing "shoulda" failures.. which is. a pretty shallow point given the nature of college basketball.... and especially conference college basketball.

Unless elite is now to be defined as never losing a game that should be won... a test virtually no team will pass with perfection (indeed ALL teams have failed this test at least once this year), then that test is merely a nonsensical denial of reality.

Elite is not perfection. Ergo, eliteness is not negated by a single loss in a "shoulda" situation. It is a relative term.

    Get it? Got it? Good.

Umm... isn't this sort of a "duh...ya think?" statement?

I don't give out points for stating the obvious. We shoulda beat wake. Duke shoulda beat lehigh. Unc shoulda beat Texas. Miami shoulda bea fla gulf coast.
Louisville shoulda beat villanova. Creighton shoulda beat Drake....and on and on ad nauseum.

Heck.. I could "straight up dis" State better than that, and i'm not even hans!

You hit the nail on the head kato_karma. Seth Greenberg won more games than any coach at VT. He had several years with injuries to key personnel. He didn't gee-haa with our AD Weaver. He will land another Head Coaching job soon. He knows this game better than some out there in the ACC and beyond. He is stubborn too.
