Mason is a "project player"....improves steadily.

    2009-10...points 3.7, rebs 3.1
    2010-11...points 7.2, rebs 8.4
    2011-12...points 11.1, rebs 9.2
    2012-13...points 17.4, rebs 11.2

FTs have improved 3 years running.

He'll get a shot at the next level, depends on how much he improves.

he`ll get drafted on potential, before they realize, he`s already reached his ceiling
He`ll be a bench sitter in the league 2 yrs tops...

He`s too slow, has no shot and cant defend
The hype on him is over the top.

I probably wouldn't compare Dex with Mason.

Plumlee has progressed up to this point.
17.4 ppg, 11.2 rpg, FTs have even improved - in the POY conversation

Dex...not so much - still trying to score 8 ppg as a G

    @ Cuss

"They talk those guys up every single year, and we beat them every single year. They are the least of our worries. Beat us one year and then they can talk smack. Until then, you can't put them in the mix."

Dexter Strickland's comments, which were directed at NC State during the offseason, and made to CBS Sports Jeff Goodman. You may want to check his numbers before the injury, nothing to brag about (in terms of career).

Of course I consider it. Smack talk, hating on the other teams fans, or coaches, I think is ok. I don't agree with hating on the players, wanting to see them fail, because they play for another team, and what makes you so sure they'll go so easy on him when he down? Strickland has been down and is still down. He's not playing his best because of his injury. He had surgery on his knee less than a years ago. They haven't gone "easy" on him since the season begin. So, there goes your, "I'm sure fans will go easier on them when they're down."

It might have something to do with some of the comments these guys make. Ever consider that? If certain players ever come to grips with the fact that trash talk only irritates the opposition, I'm sure fans will go easier on them when they're down.

It's amazing the hate some have. I just don't get why they, the haters, enjoy seeing any young man fail. Dexter doesn't seem like the player he was before the injury. But, I agree with Smitty, he'll find something meaningful like most of the players from Carolina, Duke and State do.

Yunno how it is, once they start hating on them, it does not stop, even when they are down. I'm sure Dexter is pretty pragmatic about his game right now, the tape does not lie. When I met him he was great and came off very intelligent, and will have a future doing something meaningful, and it does not have to be basketball.

Strickland is 20 of 87 from 3 pt range in his career - .23% - terribleHe shoots .67% from the stripe during his career - terribleHe averages just a tad over 7 points per game for his career - so-soHis assist totals look like this, 2.0 apg in 09, 2.2 apg in 2010, 2.1 apg in 2011, & 4.1 apg in 2012 - his assists per game are nothing to write home about.

The numbers don't = the HYPE.

I see nothing wrong with talking junk when our college teams play each other, but, once they go out into the real world, I hope they ALL get the chance to live their dream and make mucho $$$s. It's what they have been working towards for all their life. God bless them all and I hope they succeed.

What's gonna hurt him more is he has lost his hops and speed. Can't beat anyone down the court like before the knee. It's sad but that injury bug bites quite a few. Dexter was a better shooter last year and I can't help but think the lack of spring has affected his shot as it is learned over years of practice. Plus, he has a slow release. He might get to play in Europe.

he should be allowed to shoot only when he's within a foot of the rimDoesn't sound like a description of anyone currently in the NBA.

As for the link (http://www.draftexpress.com/rankings/NCAA-Seniors/), they've got Strickland 6 spots higher than Kenny Kadji. That's ridiculously bad.

There's one key difference between Strickland and Wood: Wood has a chance at playing in the NBA (Matt Carroll, anyone?). Strickland has absolutely nothing he could possibly contribute to any NBA team.
