It's way to early to talk about next season. We're in the middle of a season. Besides, we have another solid recruiting class coming in, including Cat Barber (top 2/3 PG) and potentially Randle (top 5 player overall)

^I read something on the espn conversation page that said "tear in achilles." Not saying that is true AT ALL. But if it is...we're in MAJOR trouble. Hoping it isn't that. Didn't look that bad (also heard Rondo got up quickly too)

Germs are most easily spread by touching. Maybe they're counting on the Virginia players trying not to get too close to him. :)

Apparently, it was said on the radio (by whom, I have no idea!) that CJL was going to play.

I also heard it may have been a stomach flu, which I suppose would be better than the "real" flu. But if that's the case, he could have hydration problems, if you know what I mean. I think he has problems with that even on a GOOD day.

Like Ken said, my answer to your question was in the very next post. WRAL doesn't let us modify the original post in these blogs, so I couldn't add the part I inadvertently left out.

Good one. Miami is pretty much the best of the rest right now. The defense has been impressive as well as the offense. They are holding people to something like 35%. Miami has 5 averaging in double figures. They are in the driver's seat right now.

^ just read that he's sick. geez, this is our critical stretch. If we can win with him less than 100% I'd be impressed. We certainly have enough offensive pieces but I just don't know. Oh well, what can we do except play hard in his potential absence?

The betting line is based on tendencies and to me indicates how tough this game will be for us. There's no question UVA's defense is exceptional, but we also have a great offense. To feature it, we need to be physical and play hard (e.g. movement without the ball, Scott fighting through screens, hustle on 50/50 chances) WITHOUT getting into foul trouble. We all see how that worked for us against Wake. As I said in another thread, NC State 68, UVA 62. Go Pack!

I'm surprised that Virginia is favored by 4 in this game. Even though they are at home, I don't think they have the talent to hang with State. I'm going with the upset in this one.

UVAQ has a stout defense and are 2nd. State has the 2nd best scoring offense. Should be a great game.

State blew the lead. That is something to be concerned about. The reason I am not too concerned is because Carolina shot a crazy percentage during that comeback stretch. And it wasn't just because they were open shots, either. They were hot as a two dollar pistol in that stretch. I actually find that to be a positive. State could have easily folded and did not. We continued to hit important shots when they really mattered. Previous State teams would have lost this game. And we don't want to peak right NOW anyway. Peak too early and you burn out come tournament time.

Agreed. Tell it brother. Giddy. Are these little girls on here or just unc fans, same thing. What are they still doing on the State-Virginia thread? Go Wolfpack!!!

  • PanthersFan45 Jan 29, 2013

State needs to put together a decent road win for a change. In the 2 losses to Maryland & Wake Forest they have had foul trouble. Road wins are tough and they will need to play well here to win.

  • kato_karma.v4 Jan 29, 2013

    Indeed.

Gott says he has 6 starters...

and the next two guys off the bench get 3 mins each (in a game that some have proposed was never in doubt).

    and

State has the PREMIER PG in the ACC.

just ask the 2 or 3 different pansies that ATTEMPTED to guard him on Saturday.

I think on talent only State matches up with anyone in the ACC. However I think what they lack is UVA's strength and that is discipline. UVA forces the opponent to play offense for 35 seconds at a time and State loves the up tempo game. It will come down to whether State stays disciplined on offense ...I don't think they have it in them.

Also think State may be getting geared up for this one..which is already being talked about on ESPN

    Where to be Saturday:
    Saturday
Raleigh, N.C. (Miami at NC State): Who's the second-best team in the ACC? What if that's the wrong question entirely? After all, Miami utterly stomped Duke last week -- complete with hilarious faux-floor-slapping -- and NC State has already toppled the Blue Devils as well. Shouldn't we be wondering if one or either of these teams is (at least with Ryan Kelly out), better than the league favorite? Of the two, Miami has the bigger chance; a road win at NC State would be hugely impressive. Either way, don't miss it.

KT, Hans is either the most self-loathing "fan" there ever was, or he's a Carolina fan. I now believe he's a sheep in wolf's clothing. He makes up stuff to rip State fans (fringers) on, but doesn't rip on the very real stuff that Carolina fans say and do that justify ripping them apart. He'll make up a straw man argument in a heartbeat on State fans (like me being giddy over this win, or the fans "wanting" to rush the court after beating Carolina). But I guess any happiness whatsoever probably IS giddiness compared to what Hans feels after a State win.

Giddiness? You have a problem, dude. We're happy after a win. We're happy to have ended that dubious 13 game losing streak to the Holes. But giddy? We're no more giddy than we are after any other win. I think most of us are just concerned about a letdown game. It's been a while since we've put together consecutive wins. Personally, I'm more concerned than giddy.

This is one of those "something's GOTTa give" games. Here's hoping State doesn't mess it up like we did in the game after we beat that OTHER team in blue.

I just read that in ACC play, the home teams are 16-1. The lone road win was Virginia winning at VT.

It is time for State to change that, at least our share of it. We won our last game. Now it is time to make it a two-game winning streak. One game at a time. Survive and advance!

    GO PACK!!!
