State needs to find a way...

to somehow close it out in these close games. a couple of boneheaded fouls and turnovers in the last 120 secs...come on guys. 4 conf losses by a combined 7 pts...i hope they figure it out in the 2nd half of the acc season.

i don't even know why i turned the game on after not watching the first 30mins (game time). now i have a stress headache. stupid me.

Hey, buddy, we were 7 down and came back to take a 5 point lead late. I thought the game was over when we were down. We showed a lot of heart and hustle today. Tyler Lewis is going to be all right, IMHWPO.

i agree, the players are repeating the same mistakes in all 4 conf losses...over and over...they break down mentally at crunch time...here is an interesting quote from Roy Williams(from an espn article), about his own team this yr...i feel this applies DIRECTLY to NCSU........Instead of more "learning experiences," he said recently, he's ready for his squad to start playing to its potential.
"I get tired of that," he said. "The game's basketball, they have a damn scoreboard, that's what you've got to learn by.
"Early in the season, I can understand that; early in the season, you learn. But we've played 19 or 20 games, and I'm tired of learning. I want some results." NCSU being 5-4, after beating duke AND unc, is terribly weak

I agree Duane.

But the problem is the coach. Gottfried is not teaching them how to play the closing minutes.

State being 5-4 with the talent we have is just criminal. Any other ACC coach would be no worse than 7-2 is not undefeated.

As fans we also need to stop being satisifed with "close" and expect to win

you are no Pack fan, the problem is not the coach...i saw Gott's face when CJ made the bone-headed, senseless foul in the backcourt with miami in the double bonus late in the game, after choking the front end of a one-on-one...do you really think that Gott would instruct his players to foul miami in that situation??!?...the coach doesnt miss free throws, commit dumb fouls, commit unforced turnovers, and fail to understand the game situation...some things you should not need a coach to tell you...in the last 25 sec of the wake forest game, after another choked CJ free throw, the ball is batted out near the 3 pt line, and Wood(a senior, mind you) grabs the ball and immediately hurries a jumper, which misses...deacs get the rebound, and State has to start fouling...a coach should not have to tell a senior to hold the damm ball for the last shot, that senior should either call a time out, or hold the ball....even if he would have made the shot, that would have given the deacs a chance to win the game with the last possesion..just not sound basketball thinking...its all these little details that the Pack players, even the veterans, are failing to get a handle on, and have led to a groundhog day of close losses

Duane, defending Gottfired just like my fellow wolfpack fans did with Sidney for 4 of 5 years of losing

Just because he is the coach does not mean we have to defend him

Look at the losses and the talent he has to work with

And the details on handling the closing minutes comes through practice drills where these situations are simulated over and over again. Just like a good football team practices the 2 minute offense

It is apparent that Gottfried is not doing these simulated drills as we keep making the Bonehead plays over and over again

If state is ever going to have a program the fans have to change first and then the program will improve quickly

We cannot accept Close as good enough but right now that is what we do and we defend it also

No coach should ever take a a job as NC STATE basketball coach, as soon as things go bad fans call for the coach to be fired, Syndek, Lowe, and now Gotfried, face it NC STATE is not as good as advertised and thank Richard Howell because without him you would really be up the creek without a paddle, guess you thought changing CJ's name to Calvin would turn things around, your 3rd or 4th best and that will never change, guess UNC isn't doesn't so bad at all. LOL

Gott has done the job up there much better than others. Leslie could take them to huge wins when he get's it right. Leslie has some issues. Who knws? Wood is a winner when he's on. Then again, he hurts State too. He's slow and doesn't play defense. I would give Warren more minutes.

No State fan has called for Gottfried to be fired.

State will find a way to win most of the games from here on out. They're not going to win out the rest of the season, but they'll win most and will be in the NCAA where anything could happen.
