i'm not saying to fire him, and im not sure why someone cant voice there logical opinion without so many reactionaries equating this to wanting to fire the coach..no one can find any post of mine where i called for Gott to be fired..i am actually putting most of the blame on the players.....i am saying i'm not looking thru red-colored glasses, so i cant get all giddy about close losses..its time to win games, and fork excuses

Foster left Duke because he couldn't (using his words) continue the level of recruiting that had landed the likes of Sparnarkle, Gminski, Banks, and Dennard. Harrell and Bender transfered in and were great additions but he couldn't follow it up with quality recruits. Except for one year of Banks and Dennard on the team, coach K had little talent to compete with. This was his second year team roster. look at the household names on that team. Should have been at least a final four squaud for sure. LOL

Vince Taylor, Chip Engelland, Tom Emma, Doug McNeely, Daniel Meagher, Greg Wendt, Allen Williams, Michael Tissaw, Todd Anderson, Jay Bryan, Ned Franke, Richard Ford

Wonder what disaster ol' Roy would have compared that team to?

After reading most of these today, I would surmise that some would like to hang Coach Gott. Just think back to the days of Lowe. Then. You have the answer. He was lucky to come out of the booth too. He hs won a bunch of games too.

my attitude is based on obsevations from the most basic of techniques...watching the game....and i dont see how you can talk about patience, since you have had little, to no, adversity with K at the helm...when he was hired, it was common practice to be patient..i'd like to see how patient duke fans would be if duke went to the nit, or had a couple losing seasons...i would say they would melt down just like heel fans did in 2010, and lose patience quite quickly...the most recent example of duke facing adversity resulted in Gaudet being banished from the "family", never to be seen again

i'm not saying can Gott, TB...i'm making valid observations that i cant fathom other people not being able to see...except for miami, NCSU has had more experience, on all fronts, than the teams they have lost to in the conference...the "younger" teams that State has lost to played more like experienced players, at crunch time, than the team with 4 returning starters from the sweet 16 team just last year...i'm tired of seeing the same mistakes, when it counts...and when the game is up for grabs, with time running out, none of the other stuff matters...you either have what it takes, or you dont..and the examples of not having what it takes are getting more frequent...i dont give up, and i expect State to sweep duke...but, i ask you, if State continues to choke at crunch time, and goes 0-2 this week, you will still be content with the way the season is going?..i never cared for a #6 ranking, and i havent expected an ncaa title this year, but i expect better than what i am seeing from this team..period

Gottfried is terrible. He is blowing this season with more talent by far than the rest of the ACC and we have dook for maybe 3 losses in a row! More talent and playing worse than last year. The Heels are having a bad rebuilding year and are ranked higher than us now! Gott needs to go and fast!

Unfortunately Tommy these attitudes are a product of our drive thru microwave society. It took coach K several years to turn Duke back around. I would contend that he was arguably the best hire ever in college coaching and imagine where Duke would have probably been today if Butters hadn't displayed a little patience.

Give Gott a chance, Duane. Remember, he is still using mostly players he did not recruit. Even TOB had to get rid of about 30 of Amato's problems before the mindset changed. What Gott has done in less than 2 years is amazing, to me. We're playing better after just 1 year than we played ANY of Lowe's seasons. It takes time.

Lewis showed this potential in some of the early games. Then it was if he were being held back by something. Glad he has broken through. This is a fun team to watch when he and Brown are playing well. Keep playing like this and correct a couple of mistakes and it will be a great run this year.

he had to shoot, the shot clock was running down...just more head-scratching play from this team....why arent you guys hitting the boards????? WT EFF r u guys doing?!?!..and then Howell boxes himself out directly under the basket, on the last shot, thereby taking himself out of the play, and setting miami big man up for an easy tap...they consistently do whatever it takes to lose in these situations, and fail to do what it takes to win

lots of season left, but the Pack has shown disturbing trends at crunch time, over and over(all the way back to the 3rd unc game last yr, and the kansas game in the sweet 16)...dumb,unforced turnovers, idiotic, senseless fouls, crucial missed free throws, pizz-poor defense allowing layups and follow-shots, etc...the cerebral part of the game seems to be lacking...not holding for the last shot when its available, not using fouls-to-give when they have the advantage, getting frantic under pressure and making all types of mental mistakes...i havent seen any improvement in these areas, as they have shown themselves in all 4 close conference losses...every one....one close loss , no biggie...2 close losses, a coincidence...4 close losses are a pattern, and i have seen the same things occur in ALL the losses...not happy , at all, about this game

  • jblee2 Feb 3, 2013

I'm happy for Tyler. I don't believe in moral victories, but scoreboard victories. We came up short today--Congrats to Miami. TBK is absolutely right in saying this compounds with the three road losses. I can't imagine feeling much sadder than this in the regular season, but we still have hope--not for the ACC regular season crown but to make noise through the rest of the year and the tourney. Go Pack!

I see us lose every close game due to bad coaching
