    Agreed....

he showed himself as quite the player.
    13 pts
    4-8 FG
    5-5 FT
    2 Rebs
6 Asst ZERO TOs 1 STL

I have a feeling that ACC teams NOT named NC State are going to grow tired of watching this young fella over the next 3 1/2 years.

Duke played a great game early and couldn't miss... they certainly deserved to win, but I like the heart the Pack showed to get back into the game.... time after time.

    DUKE benefits.

And the refs can't put the ball in the basket for them. They can only increase their chances of winning by making it unevenly difficult on their opponents.

The conspiracy is AGAINST State. For some reason, the BOG, Swofford, all the officials, and every other school in the conference have formed a cabal whose sole purpose is to keep State down. I'm sure the expansion teams have already joined.

Doesn't change the ignorance of what he said. A senior averaging 28 mpg and got acc player of the week the week before he got injured is not simply replaced by a freshman averaging about 9 mpg at that point. Just like I expect a dropoff when state plays Lewis instead of brown, despite that Lewis is a mighty mcd's aa.

Curry didn't torch anyone until our best defender was on the bench (unfairly) with four fouls. See how that works? Remove the problem players from the other team, and have your way with them, Dookies!

The fix was most certainly IN last year. We could have led by 50 and not won that game.

Also need to mention the irony, when before the first game Gott said something like "They won't miss Kelly, they have other McD's AAs coming in for him".

Now with Brown out, certainly Gott should be fine with their backup McD's AA to fill right in where Zo Brown left off.

The fouls in the first half of last years game came from a very agressive wolfpack team that played with too much raw energy rather than with poise. I don't expect them to start this game in the same manner as they did last year. It will be close but Duke will win at home. I Can't believe you are pulling out the "refs" card alrady. Smacks of desperation of a fan whose team has dropped out of the top 25 rankings and has a difficult road at the end of the regular season.

Same thing happened in 2011 when UNC blew a 14 point halftime lead. Nolan and Curry took over in the 2nd half in that one. And believe it or not, I don't remember UNC fans whining about the refs after that.

Please don't start with the Refs. Curry torched you in the 2nd half. You couldn't score on offense, you choked and gave up a 20pt lead. The referees can effect games, but they can't force a game into a 26pt swing in 10 minutes. Gimme a break

That's what happened LAST year in Cameron. Actually, the groundwork was laid in the first half, when our players were saddled with 2-3 fouls apiece. Sure, State had the big lead, but then they were able to foul our guys out in the second half (while letting Duke get away with murder), and the comeback was on.

As for injuries, isn't Duke missing another important player besides Kelly? This could be an interesting match-up...... if the refs call it the same for both teams this time around.

  • DooksucksV3 Feb 7, 2013

Mason's gonna have to be smart and avoid the cheapie fouls. It doesn't matter whether Duke's home or away, Howell and Leslie can draw fouls as well as any pair in the ACC.

Miami has the 2nd best backcourt in the conference, behind State (when Zo's healthy). Duke may play "tighter D", but they don't have any guards that are quick as miami's... So I don't see their pressure being unmanageable.

We'll see... But I think foul trouble is the key 2nite.... The pack must stay out of it.

  • Hans Feb 7, 2013
    Sports Legend

Did you forget the part about "Duke's home court"? I'd look for Leslie and Howell to have foul trouble before any duke player.

  • 903 mens national championships Feb 7, 2013
    Sports Legend

Lewis probably will be nervous and affected as any freshman playing not just his first road game but to do it at Cameron of all places. But State can also give the point to Purvis if things really go badly for Lewis, so that's not the end of the world unless someone gets in foul trouble.

Believe it or not, the Hairston injury could play a big role in the game tonight. Powell and Leslie already gave State a big advantage in the paint, but now if Plumlee picks up two early fouls or a third early in the 2nd half like he did at Wake, then Duke only has Jefferson, Marshall Plumlee and Murphy to try to stop those two. Even with Duke's home court, I think that would be a nightmare for Coach K. If Mason doesn't have a 1st team All-American type performance tonight then basically Duke is left with trying to beat State from the 3 point line, which isn't a bad option since they shoot so well at home but it's definitely not a given Duke wins in that scenario let alone covering a double-digit spread.

    Towel Boy

The pack can win this game. We were up 20 with a little over 11 minutes to go in the second half at duke...pack by 5.
