RE: Duke Exacts Revenge
State completely crumbled when Duke came out and smacked them in the mouth. They started panicking and throwing up brick after brick like they always do. No poise whatsoever.
RE: Duke Exacts Revenge
This team cant get any worse right now. I will say Tyler teen wolf lewis played really for his first trip to cameron. That good is gonna be a nice pg in this league for 3 more seasons. Reminds a little of Steve Blake.
RE: Duke Exacts Revenge
Mason's play last night was the X factor. State could weather the 3 storm but this was finally the Mason we all felt he could be. Glad he stayed away from those awkward looking hooks and dropped his free throws.
RE: Duke Exacts Revenge
^agreed, if he uses his post moves and stays away from the hooks, he is nearly unstoppable.

Fortunately for him, there is little competition at center. Some of my Duke co-workers think that he will be much less effective against more skilled post players.
RE: Duke Exacts Revenge
^Seemed to do well against Howell, and the big man at Ohio State, and Nerlens. I dont know if there are many post players in the NCAA who are more skilled than Mason, He leads the acc in scoring, second in rebounding, that makes him not skilled somehow?
RE: Duke Exacts Revenge
The title of this thread could just as easily be "Duke defends its home court". There's a lot of that going around in the league this year. Only Miami seems to be doing well on the road, with five wins already. That may have something to do with the fact they are also the most experienced team in the league.

I did not say that he was not skilled, because he has developed greatly during his time at Duke. I cannot believe you compared him to a Freshman in an early season match-up. Ohio State's big man is not an offensive/defensive threat. They are a mostly perimeter team. Howell had 25 and Plumlee had 30, so that is pretty much even. Indian, Michigan, Louisville, Gonzaga, Miami and a few others, all have big men who defend and score.
RE: Duke Exacts Revenge
Plumlee, IMO, is still in the running for NPOY, as was displayed last night. His numbers went down a few games when Kelly first went down, but he has adjusted nicely. A little bit of an unfair comparison with Nerlens, but that kid is an absolute beast now.
