Why LEHIGH, of course, like any real tarheel fan. Nothing we like better than a Carolina win except a dook loss.

The way our heels suck this year, it sure would be nice to see LEHIGH beat them dookies. Least we'd have something to cheer bout.

If dook lucks up and wins tomorrow night, we are gonna light up that LEHIGH thread. You can count on it.

    GO LEHIGH and CAROLINA

It's a grammar thing. Some people don't know the difference between LOSE and LOOSE when they post comments. He's basically slamming on State fans, but he has to ignore a lot of Carolina posts to do so.

And I'm sure they're going to have some fun with the fact that I had to explain this to a fellow State fan. Let me know and I'll clear out this post (hopefully before they see it!)

Check the CAPTION of his post a little closer... the irony of this is that most Carolina fans still wouldn't get it, even after it was pointed out to them. I see them using the wrong "lose" or "loose" as much or more than anyone else!

For the most part this is correct. The only time, and I mean ONLY time, I ever pull for Carolina is if it somehow benefits State in a tangible way. In this case, Carolina beating Duke would not benefit State.

I think you misunderstood some of my point on my statements. I am saying those unc fans are wrong because if a 'state fan' cares more about Carolina than they do State, then they are Not a true state fan. And you should not lump actual state fans in with those types of people.

I have family members who are state fans, some others who are duke fans and yet other family members who are unc fans. I know the vitriol between them on game days. But I don't know any family members who would trade their team's win just so another team gets a loss for spite's sake. If there are people out there that would give up a win so the other side can have a loss, I will count those folks as lunatics.

Oh and Hans, I've seen that smugness shown by UNC and Duke fans. I call my own family members out on that behavior. They admit to it. They think winning affords them the right to such arrogance.

^Complete misconception, and you obviously know very little about what DUKE really is. A pillar of not just the community, but our nation. A shining beacon of hope for those throughout the world, who know the DUKE name stands for excellence and success. Sorry that brings you down, now run along, don't you have a swahili tutoring lesson to attend to? Or are they still only requiring one paper and no class time to learn a new language??

^agreed, I have people in my immediate family and close friends who are state fans. There a sizeable portion of them that care ALOT more about unc losing than state winning. I think that speaks more to the irrelevance of state basketball in the last 30 years than wanting one team to lose more than another to win.

  • Hans Feb 12, 2013

Just because they are UNC fans does not mean that they are wrong. I've seen the very behavior for decades.

That is a false statement in every way. No fan of a team, much less a STATE fan, would rather have another team, or specifically UNC lose, rather then their own team win. Nobody.

If someone thinks that way, they should not be considered a fan of a team, and if they claim to be one, it should be dismissed.

I'll admit I am an ABCer. So when UNC does lose it is enjoyable since I don't have to choke on the smugness coming from my UNC fan friends when they do win. And if I can get a senario where State wins and UNC loses, hey, thats just a bonus.

But don't think for a second I'd trade our win against Clemson on Sunday, or any win for that matter, for a UNC loss tomorrow night.

That's the line of all the carolina fans in here that believe that State fans are obsessed with UNC more than their own team. And I guess thats your opinion too Hans. Seems weird you would have the same opinions as UNC fans being a State fan and all.

    Go Pack!!!

On the actual subject, based on helping us out in the rankings and my general dislike of UNC is more than my dislike for Duke, I'll be rooting for UNC to lose. With that said make sure you understand that I am NOT, in any way, rooting for Duke to win. :)

Yep. They'd rather Carolina lose than State win. Pretty sad, IMO. Take TBK there - if the reverse scenario he posted were true, he'd still be pulling for Duke.

gotta pull for duke, the Pack will move into the 4th seed with a duke win, and the goal should be a first-round bye, at this point....miami or duke is gonna win the reg season, and the Pack loses the tie-breaker with uva(they only play once)...the only advantage they have in the current top 4 is over unc...State, fsu,unc and md are fighting for the 4th seed, imo

I always find it fun to sit in the middle of a bunch of UNC and Duke fans and then cheer or laugh loudly when either team makes a mistake. It makes it so frustrating for them, because I'm not supporting either team.
