Everybody is on the bubble at 16-17 wins. Thankfully, State still has seven more games BEFORE the ACC tournament.

State could lose all seven and not make the dance.

But that ain't happenin', and State AIN'T on no bubble! Carolina, not so much. They still have some serious work to do. They need quality wins. State just has to win a few more games, and with the easy remaining schedule, that shouldn't be a problem.

Yea, they definately on the bubble. A win in the next game could take them off though.

dont forget the '83 team had a regular-season injury, also, that wound up making the team stronger when he came back...jus sayin, harr!lol

Looks like the Big 10 is getting a lot of love and will get a lot of invites. ACC isn't looking so good right now.

Do we really care what the rest of the ACC does? Seriously...

  • barthc98 Feb 13, 2013

Va could concievably drop that considerably, with 5 remaining with lower rpi's. Unfortunately (for them) , 3 are away, and one is Duke at home. They are getting a tiny bit of love in the ap "also recieving" vote list, but (again) that pre-season sched is really haunting them.... Multiple games with 250+ rpi and horrible w-l records flat out kills an rpi.

  • 4tarheels Feb 13, 2013

Duke, Miami, State & UNC round out the top 4 (UNC at 36). Then there is a big drop-off to the next ACC team at 65. That doesn't bode well for the ACC. With automatic qualifiers taking quite a few of the 68 team field, the ACC may only get 4 teams in the dance. I was also surprised to see that FSU and Maryland were higher ranked in the RPI than Virginia (way down at 81).

UVA had an obnoxiously easy non-conf schedule... their good play in conference has actually brought them up considerably, but they had such a loooong hill to climb.

  • geraldr10 Feb 12, 2013

I'm surprised UVA is so low on that list. I guess they have had some bad losses (Wake, Clemson,Ga Tech, ODU). But they beat UNC, State and won at the Kohl center

Obviously, if State loses out, we're in the NIT. If we lose more than we win from here on out, we're on the bubble.

But we also have the "easiest" conference games remaining on our schedule. Only one top-six ACC team remains, and that is at Carolina.

In other words, we should realistically win quite a bit more than we lose from here on out. Anyone that thinks this is a bubble team is wishing it to be so.

  • blueduke4 Feb 12, 2013
    Sports Legend

Nobody said they were a bubble team currently. The opinion is that they have been PLAYING like a team that deserves to be on the bubble and to right it soon. Not saying they wont, I actually believe with the emergence of Teen Wolf and Zo back, they will do just fine.

What's up with all the ^^^, anyway. NCSU is not a bubble team. Looking at the rest of the schedule it's not as hard as the first half. So they will finish strong. Play well in the tournament. NCSU will be just fine.

Just a bit of perspective. The last 4 games the Pack played have been, a 3-pt loss at Virginia after losing Zo 10 mins in: a last second tip-in by Miami, unbeaten in the ACC, without Zo: @ Duke where the Devs were shooting 3-pointers like lay-ups in the 1st half, a game where we started 2-15 from the floor and 66% the rest of the game, again without Zo: and last a road win at Clemson, where the tigers are 4-1 at home in the ACC, the only loss to State. In the last game with Zo back there is a totally new team on the floor with Gott playing both Brown and Lewis together.

The talent is there and with the addition of Tyler, maybe more than we knew. If and when this team starts clicking they have shown to be very dangerous. I think Lorenzos injury was a stumbling block during a very tough stretch in the schedule. That behind us, the remainder of States games are much easier (on paper,at least) Go Pack

^^ Thats BS..Ask Duke Ask Arizona Ask Indiana etc..i can keep naming teams, all those teams have struggled at some point on the road and loss but they are ranked top 5 teams. Miami is the only team to win all but 1 road game

  • SpartanDude Feb 12, 2013

And by that argument, the Blue Devils have some work to do, considering they had to battle out a win at BC.

  • blueduke4 Feb 12, 2013

^Great teams do not struggle on the road, and it is usually those great teams that you can expect to see in the final four, juss sayin'.

^^ We will..we gotta get ZO back healthy implement more of white chocolate into the rotation then I think we will..Outside of OK St. and duke last week our loses have all been 1 possesions where if the ball bounces our way we are 10-1 right now in conference. Everyone struggles on the road

That's what I'm saying. This is the point of the season where teams should be hitting their stride. I'm not seeing that at all from State.

  • harr2006 Feb 12, 2013

^^ Thats only your opinion and we all have them either way..The FAACT is that NC STATE is NOT a bubble team according to our RPI 17 & SOS 7 and that is FACT

  • blueduke4 Feb 12, 2013
    Sports Legend

^I believe he means the way they are playing as of late has the appearence of a bubble team, and if they dont get it together then they most certainly will not make the tourney. So, in that regard, they are just as much a bubble gum squad as any other.

  • harr2006 Feb 12, 2013

Well sorry to wake you up out of lala land but the pack are not on the bubble or close to it no matter how you perceive things! That is FACT!!

Don't care about the "holes", harr, but I'm not prepared to say State's not on the bubble. Not after what I've seen the past several weeks.

I think the time and experience Ty "white chocolate" Lewis got during ZO's injury is really gonna help us the last stretch of the year. The Gottfather said that Ty and Zo will definitely be on the court at the same time alot more because Ty had earned it..
