My head has always been up. I get sick of people on here that have never played a damm nothing game and write like they have all of the answers on here. You know. People that write like they know this stuff. I know the real deal with most writers on here. Most are OK people....

Just to enlighten some of the posters on here. I wrote this at the start of the season. No team in the ACC is playing with 7 players on a scholarship, except Virginia Tech. None. So, when we play with heart and desire is all we want. We came close a few more times in wins. It doesn't matter that we took UNC to OT with the AA's. We got beaten 17-5 in OT. I'll take a rookie coach that get's heart, hustle, and desire over some of the hyped All-Americans. VT will probably end up last in the ACC, but we haven't quit yet. Go little Hokies. We will do something next year.

Thanks, sounds like the strategy is stop the rest of the team, even if Green does get his points.

It has to be a positive after going 7-6 last season. Logan Thomas didn't do anything. A new OL with Curt Newsome didn't do the job. He's going back to James Madison. Thomas was supposed to be a top 5 draft choice entering the season. The way he played, he knew he didn't have a chance after the season.

I was hoping that Beamer would have given Mark Lail some snaps. Our OC has been around, and he likes to run the ball. Thomas was our leading rusher last season as a QB. How does this happen? I just hope these new guys know what they are doing. Bud Foster bailed us out in several games last year.

State should dispatch them easily, but as Hans stated, we are talking a out state. Erik Green drops 40 and the stage players act like they didnt know he was good and throw their hands up at the ref after every call.

Sounds good all-in-all. As far as O'Cain goes, he was my least favorite NCSU fb coach... I just never felt he had the tools for the job, peronality-wise. And keeping steinspring under the new circumstances seems the correct solution... although I know there are some who view him as poison. The recruiting game is too important to lose him altogether though. I remember reading that you are getting a couple of coaches from auburn... but don't remember details, other than the general take (as I read it) was that it was a positive move.

Thanks for this. I'm glad someone on here realizes this about our football team.

Frank Beamer finally hired 3 new coaches last month. He finally moved Brian Steinspring from OC to the tight ends. He did fire Mike O'Cain. The others found jobs after being forced out. When we won the ACC Championships, there was a heckeva lot of talent on these teams. More than some that topped out in the entire Country in the top 5 at times. We have lost a bunch of Bowl Games. They have put some heat on Beamer for some time now with the coaches. They have been on him for 10 years to get rid of Steinspring as OC. This guy can recruit though. I feel that we will have a good team if Logan Thomas can play like he did as a Soph. VT has recruited well for the 2013 season.

Well, I hope Hans has some cheer in him for something. It just doesn't seem to be for NC State. Poor guy, he wants so badly to be a fan but just isn't able to get over that hump of positivity.

I agree about the weight room. I follow VT a little closer than most as I have family living in Blacksburg. My biggest confusion has been with the dissapointing FB team the past 2 years... VT had looked to be on the verge of a dynasty of sorts at one time.

Good one. We lost two scholarship players when Seth left. Walk-ons have certainly helped us. Johnson has signed 4 pretty good players for next season based on the readings. We'll see. VT players need to hit the weight room.

This should be ours. I have a ton of respect for Green though.... one shudders to think of what VT would be if only he had a decent "supporting cast."

Hans, you were so close to getting a positive message posted. Perhaps you should consider trimming your posts. That might get you a more positive tone.

State is playing at home, where they've been rock solid all year. They should win pretty easily, despite Erick Green's scoring prowess.

  • VT1994Hokie Feb 14, 2013

State should win this one by a solid margin. VT doesn't have many shooters. Most ACC teams out rebound the Hokies as well. Erick Green has kept us in a few games lately. UVA beat us soundly on Tuesday night.
