Comments about UNC being the flagship are made for one reason. Because it gets under the skin of State fans...and former State football coaches.

Except that it doesn't. Like I said, I never even respond to those posts. But this one was too priceless, given how important it is to the Holes to think of themselves as the flagship. :)

As a Wolfpack fan and alumnus, I could not possibly care less about NCSU being the "co-flagship" with Kerlina Kommunity Kollege (KKK). We at NCSU do not need silly, self-appointed nicknames or titles to have pride in our institution. The only thing more worthless than a Tarholer's opinion, is the Tarholer him/herself.

Yes....technically, state college (and UNC-Greensboro) are also "Flagship institutions" of the Great UNC system.

I'm amazed it took anyone that long to figure that out.

(It also makes it even funnier at how upset state college fans were..and ARE...when The Taproot (only ONE of those) is referred to as The Flagship.)

We'll see if that changes now heh heh heh.

Well there you go. It must be true , Obama said so. I guess the national media is a little confused. They all probably went to kerlina kommunity kollege, K.K.K. that is.

I really don't care if State is thought of as a flagship or not. I never even respond to those comments. But this seems pretty important to the "UNC flagshippers", so I thought I would help them out. They seemed to believe a misconception, that there is only one flagship in this state.

I know that sometimes people get UNC and NC State confused, especially those that are not from this area. As such, they mistakenly think the term "flagship" can be applied to either. To avoid confusion in the future, I propose that from now on we refer to UNC as "the flagship" and to NC State as "the dingy".

I had a somewhat similar thought recently, only I was thinking we could call UNC The Titanic, and NCSU The Iceberg.

I prefer eating thistle but I'll eat roots when they are pulled up for me. But the Taproot is too chewy. Let's call UNC the Radish and NCState the Carrot. They're both tasty roots.
