Which team is better?

RE: Which team is better?

The team with the strongest RPI and the most quality wins?

Unc has a higher RPI. Dooooooh

Then playing State is what put it there, because it was lower before Saturday's game. Doooooh

Makes sense. Carolina dragged ours down and State pulled Carolina's up. So they probably did swap RPI spots.

How about those quality wins now?

There comes a point, TBK, when it's time to man up instead of your ifs, ands, buts, becauses, and whatever conspiracy theory you can dream up. Stop digging your hole deeper. There's a reason I don't talk trash when I have no ground to stand on. There's a reason I don't thump my chest about preseason championships. Maybe you could learn from that....or maybe you can continue to blame Swofford.

Everyone knows he's the ultimate clown. Even he doesn't believe most of the BS he spews. When he can't think of any more dumb conspiracies, he trying to find other ways to find and explain failure. He needs to start working smarter and not harder.......Just look in the mirror and the reflection of failure would stare right back.

oooooooooo Seth Davis says that Kenpom might be one the sites members are free to look at ....

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/college-basketball/news/20130221/hoop-thoughts/

On the NCAA's own internal website, there is a link that reads "Links to Other Sites." Those sites are: NCAA RPI, Polls, Sagarin Ratings, CollegeRPI.com, RPI Ratings, LRMC Rankings, Pomeroy Rankings, Composite Ranking, Conference Monitoring, ESPN BPI. Jeanie Boyd, a veteran NCAA staffer who works closely with the committee from inside the room, told us that she has seen members arrive at selection week with their own rankings that aren't among those listed. Those other metrics are definitely a part of the discussion. If there is a big discrepancy between the rankings, the committee will go into a discussion to probe further into the numbers.

RE: Which team is better?

With only two weeks to go in the regular season, the differences between the Wolfpack and the Tarheels couldn't be more pronounced.

One of these schools is a virtual lock for the NCAA tourney, having already amassed an impressive 19 wins against only 8 losses. The other is struggling, and clearly on the NCAA bubble with a mere 19 wins and a staggering 8 losses.

One of them has been a virtual scoring machine this year, piling up an impressive 78.1 points per game. The other has struggled to find its offensive touch, averaging a mere 78.1 points per game to date.

Of course, one of these schools has been helped tremendously by the bias of the referees - so much so that they have only been called for 15 fouls per game. The other team finds itself always playing 8 against 5, which is reflected in the fact that due to bad calls they have averaged 15 fouls per game by their stalwarts.

Can you tell which team is which?

It is obvious team A is the better team. Stats don't lie.

RE: Which team is better?

Interesting thread, Ken.

The media ranked both State and Carolina high in the preseason, something neither school lived up to.

On paper, State is the better team. Carolina improved a lot since their first meeting, but they are a younger team, and have more room to improve. I don't read too much into Carolina beating State, but the game did show Roy's coaching ability and the intensity and desire of the Carolina players.

Carolina is definitely trending upward, but they have a tough road ahead with their remaining games, while State has already played most of their difficult games.

I'll take Roy's coaching over Gott's, but I think the matchups in the ACCT as well as the NCAAT will have a lot to do with which team fares better.

To answer your question, State has older, more experienced players, but Carolina has the better coach. All factors considered, the teams are pretty even, but State may go further in the tourneys.
