RE: CJ Leslie HAS GOT TO GO
- Posted by Ken D.- Posted by duane11exactly, Leslie needs to come off the bench, until he gets it together...think about it, if he sulks and doesnt produce, in that role, you know you have a dude that hasnt bought in AND your team gets some experience playing without him before the post-season...if he chooses to re-focus, and prove that he belongs on the court, then its all good....the Pack had fought back and taken the lead on unc without Leslie, and it all stopped when he was put back in the game....Lewis needs more minutes, Brown has too many turnovers for a point(he averages the most to's in the league), and Lewis has the spunk and drive to complement Howell and make his team better- Posted by SportznutV2.0Ive got to go with braves 68% and Sportznut 26% (the other 6% my wife has)- Posted by Last Word
On one hand I believe if you are a star-caliber player, you bring effort every game out. Take Green for VT. Every game he gives 100% even though Im sure being a national top scorer on possibly one of the worst teams in the country has to be agonizing. Yet he never slacks because he has a winners mentality, and plays hard game in and game out. Calvin has had moments this season where he looks preoccupied with something other than the game. In the heels game I thought Purvis played with much more emotion and should have played while CJ watched.
Now..if Calvin suffered an injury, in any game, I would definately scream OMG. Because like you I too think that in order for the Pack to make any kind of run in the ncaas, we will need CJ/Calvin to play up to his potential. I love his game when he plays it, but Ive never been a fan of his attitude.
Lo Brown and Howell are this year's stars on the Pack team, Leslie can be a star for sure. However, the stretch run has arrived and there is no time to wait for a player to adjust their attitude. Gottfried is probably better served. Treating Calvin as the third best option untill he proves he wants to play. Heck Lewis has enough time in now that he can start at PG and move Brown to 2 and Warren to Leslie's spot. What I didn't agree with is a fan of a team wanting a player of his caliber gone
Can't say I disagree entirely with the idea of Leslie coming off the bench. But it sure makes State a small team. Maybe that isn't such a bad thing. It took Williams a while to realize that his hopes of developing his young big men wasn't working out. If you bench Leslie, who do you replace him with as your fifth starter - Purvis or Lewis?
Purvis has good size, and until his recent slump, he was playing well. Lewis gives his all every play. Gott does have choices besides Leslie, and it may behoove him to try those choices in the BC game.
