RE: Julius Randle
- Posted by Rameses UnchainedAgain, they are ALL LIBERAL. You need to get into the class room and see that many of these professors could not cut it in the real world. Thats why they grant themselves tenure because otherwise they would probably be fired by the sane people there.- Posted by Dr. Pwnt- Posted by Rameses UnchainedI have quite a few very conservative friends that went to UNC. I'm thinking you don't know too many of us therefore feel a blanket statement is in order. All universites are liberal, UNC is not the worst by a long shot. #50 to be exact.- Posted by gamnell
If what you say is true, I doubt you went to UNC. At least not in the last 30 years. I have some respect for some of the departments and schools at UNC, but they have become one of the most liberal universities in the South. If you're in to that sort of thing, that's cool, go ahead and support them.

Part of it is because of the majors offered like Journalism. Part of it is the professors. Part of it is the mix of more women than men.
I don't support any professor at any school that tells kids what to think rather than teaching them how to think.
His overall assertion was correct though, UNC is one of the most liberal universities in the South (top 5, actually). When I was in graduate school there it was a complete 180 from State in terms of political alignment. I didn't intend for this to come off in a condescending tone, but to attempt to brand UNC as a non liberal school is a complete joke.
UNC is worse than most of the schools in NC. That's the point. And their influence on young minds is not going un-noticed in the real world. At my job, recent graduates from State, ECU, and App State are more likely to secure a position than graduates from UNC because those students talk a big game, don't live up to the hype, and don't live in reality. Things were differnt 20 years ago, but not today.
