If Long Neck continues his poor performance (i.e., like that over the last 3 games), can he expect the Bucs to draft or trade for another/better 1st string QB candidate?

Meanwhile, TJ Yates is still unable to crack the starting lineup for the worst team in the NFL. He also apparently has a new found "back problem" from sitting on the bench. Seriously, that's what his head coach said...

Asked how third-string quarterback T.J. Yates — who’s been inactive during games ever since Case Keenum became a starter — hurt his back, Phillips cracked his best one-liner of the year.

Sitting on the bench, I guess,” Phillips said.

    Back on topic.

    One Tampa beatwriter says...

...I believe that when the Bucs run the ball well and the defense creates a bunch of turnovers, Glennon can be a decent quarterback. When the stink hits the fan and the defense is struggling and the team is down in the fourth quarter? I have zero confidence in his ability to lead a comeback drive.

Having the ability to lead your team back from the brink of losing at the end of the game and put them in position to win it is the dynamic ability I like to see from a quarterback. To me, that is what the "elite" quarterbacks can do. Glennon hasn't shown me that...

    Intersting take on Sunday's game...

Almost all of Tampa Bay's offensive production came on a pair of drives in which Glennon ran the two-minute offense. The Bucs marched 80 yards in the final two minutes of the first half to trim a 17-0 deficit to 10 points, then went 92 yards to pull within six on Glennon's second TD pass with 14:54 remaining.

Tampa Bay didn't get an opportunity to make it any more interesting.

The 49ers took the ball and held it for the next 10:27 before kicking a field goal. Eric Page fumbled on the ensuing kickoff, and San Francisco's Kendall Hunter scooped up the loose ball and dove into the end zone to make it 30-14.

The Bucs, who had hoped to make it a fourth-quarter game, wound up running just eight plays after pulling within six points — turning the ball over downs on one possession and throwing a fourth-down interception on their final offensive snap.

"If we want to be the team that we say we want to be, we have to learn how to win the tough games. The game came down to the fourth quarter and we didn't finish," defensive tackle Gerald McCoy said. "We had them where we wanted them, it was 20-14, all we needed to do was get the ball back and they went on a 10-minute drive. The defense can't allow that. That's happened too many times this year and we have to do better."

One recurring problem has been a lack of consistency in the running game. The Bucs were limited to 39 yards rushing Sunday, with Bobby Rainey averaging just 2.5 yards carry while gaining 27 on 11 attempts.

    From espn.com...

One time might have been an exception. Two times might have been a fluke. But string three shaky performances by a rookie quarterback together and it sure looks like a trend.

No matter how the Tampa Bay Buccaneers spin it – and they certainly tried – Mike Glennon took several steps backward in Sunday’s 33-14 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Following back-to-back rough outings against Carolina and Buffalo, Glennon on Sunday completed 18 of 34 passes for 179 yards and two touchdowns, with one interception.

The numbers don't do justice to how pedestrian Glennon and the offense looked...
