NCSU is a fine institution for may reasons (something non-alums wouldn't have a clue about). It was a perfect fit for what I wanted to do and has served me well, and as such, I am a proud alum. However, I'm secure enough to not have to obsess about UNC 24/7, pretend State is superior to UNC in every way, act like UNC is a horrible institution in every way and denigrate anyone who went there at every opportunity, pretend that State is somehow relevant athletically and is only being held down by UNC-related conspiracies, or thump my chest at dumb little gimmicks like "Our State" and mid-field logos. I'm sorry you fringers are not because it is contributing greatly to your angst.

Yes, N. C. STATE University is the land grant school of opportunity, alright now, long may they run! Seriously, besides the opportunity to receive an education that might actually land you a lasting job in high tech, there's plenty of opportunity for a talented athlete to soar through the ranks, just ask their three quarterbacks starting in the NFL, and that's just the facts as they are today.

N.C. STATE will play up to their capabilities this Saturday, it will be a better game than expected, I have no doubt. I just hope the coaching staff has learned from their mistakes, or else.

Coach Doeren has coached 8 games - he came and had re-recruit late in the game- don't go against him just because of one call name me one coach that hasn't made some strange moves in games-- If you listen to Logan then you should know he is a loose cannon- hearing him talk on the radio you know why he is not able to land a job-he is entertaining but not worth taking a risk with!!

Coach D will be ok-- remember he inherited the previous team and is trying to recruit players for his system-like the fact we rush the ball really well- get his QB in the system and he will do ok- only thing I didn't like was the fake punt and if it had worked different story-two plays halfback pass and the bad pass to Purvis- but that is -if, whens and buts!!

I admire N.C. STATE for trying to maintain ethics, by notifying the NCAA of how they've warned an agent to stay away & banned him with a no trespass order, but I wonder how ethically they treated TOB.

TOB was & is a fine coach, there was no really good reason to let him go, and Gott's not been around long enough to judge just yet, both are good recruiters. (Mike Glennon is performing well as a rookie in the NFL, he's starting and really his personal stats are not bad at all, just the rest of his team needs help).

  • NCTheTarheelState Nov 4, 2013

Dr.(snicker)Yow will hold Doorguy and GottFired for 5 years like TOB and Sid and then make a change. The sports program will be in a shambles but that seems to be what state fans are used to.

Steve Logan, this morning on AM620TheBuzz, stated that Doeren was just trying to win the game with the fake punt call, but last week he mentioned how one play like that can get a coach fired especially when it happens against a rival. Nobody doubts that the STATE coach was wanting another win, but by calling a fake punt when you are blanking the opposition by ten, early in the game, when you're only thirty yards in front of your own goal line, well that just borders on insanity (by doing such a thing he demoralized his team, he basically made them think that they were not good enough to win legitimately, while actually, ironically it was UNC who had to use a trick play halfback/receiver pass to get the lead).

Sad to see a team that has to live in the distant past to claim any success. If you want to go way back you will find that UNC has pwned state for decades!

Also looking forward to the exposure of the rampant cheating by state college for so many years. Cheater Valvano started the ball rolling and apparently it continued its roll just staying under the radar until now.
