I can't speak as to why the pirate fans in 1987 ripped down the goal posts in CF. No one can justify what they did. However, those of you that criticize the goal posts coming down in 1999 is a different story. The majority of people in that stadium lost almost everything. It was an emotional crowd and is the only time in my life that I watched a crowd will a team to win a game. The irony of the #9 Miami Hurricanes coming to town after Floyd wiped eastern NC off the map was not coincidental in my opinion. That game was all anyone from eastern NC had to look forward to because they had nothing else. We really did appreciate NCSU hospitality in helping us after we lost so much. We paid the $10,000 for new posts and NCSU made around $1 million off concessions that day to support their athletic program.

If the roles were reversed and NCSU had lost everything and they needed a place to play, ECU would open its doors. If you guys beat the #9 Miami Hurricanes I would understand if you ripped our goal posts down. I would not blame you for doing it one bit nor would I complain about it. I would celebrate with you.

Us not having any ACC wins and only winning 3 bottom feeder opponents is what is ugly. How can we get so bad in one year when we got what everyone said was a super new coach? Also everyone said we had 3 great QBs ready to go and now we have zero!

I wish our coach could do like the UNC coach and inspire his team to come back from adversity and still make a bowl game. And they did not have the cream puff opponenets scheduled we did. They also only have 6 home games to our 8. We lost all of our away game.....no big surprise there as we never win outside of stanky CFS!!!

go pack = Fire Yow, Gott and Doereen

Yes it could. Their best/ signature W was vs. ewenc. Signature L vs. Tulane. It would be ugly.

Okay. Well don't assault any referees either - no matter who wins.

We didn't tear down the goalposts when we ran Chuckie Amato out of town, I'm quite sure we won't tear them down this year.

ECU fans: Please don't tear down the goalposts after you win tomorrow. State is absolutely HORRIBLE. ECU would probably have a tougher time beating Pitt Community College, and they don't even have a football team. You will just embarrass yourself doing stuff like that.

I think we are renting ECU the Dorton arena for their celebration in case it rains. If not they are planning a block party with Central!

I'll say ECU by four touchdowns, and the goalposts end up on the other end of the fairgrounds.

    ....but enough about the fanbase(s).

    How about the game itself?
