seems like you have been sucked into the black hole. If you think competing in practice equates game play, well then...nevermind. In either case coaches usually know who the "favorite" is going into spring practice - Doeren's comments are desperate to keep the lunatic fringe engaged

  • ITerrifySmitty Dec 10, 2013

^^^he did. He named MG his starter, based on what he'd seen that spring/summer.

And, well... One particular fella didn't like being tabbed as "2nd string".

    Facts are wonderful!

    Excellent observation, Ken...

TOBy should have done the same when faced with the Wilson/Turkey Neck situation.

I.E., let Turkey Neck cut and run (because he was afraid of competing) and have a viable understudy learn from Wilson (what better mentor could you ask for on and off the field???).

Brissett has had an entire year competing against Pete Thomas and his backups. He has apparently demonstrated to the Wolfpack coaching staff that he gives them the best chance to win next year. So, going into spring practice, he will be the one getting the most reps. Coaches and teams have been doing this for as long as I can remember. The only way anyone can see this as a criticism of the coaches is if the glasses you wear are tinted with another school's colors.

Boy you're going off the deep end. Doeren names who the starting QB going into spring training is, and you flip. As somebody else brought up, what about Winston? What about Kerliner? Is Marquise the starter going into spring? What say you about that one, sportsack? If Coach Sombrero doesn't make any announcement, that means that Williams is the starting QB by default.

“Jacoby Brissett is our starting quarterback,” Doeren said.

there is my link, HE IS the QB, show me a link where Doeren said he would compete for the starting job

poor delusional girls, can't face that fact that their coach is not that bright....I do give you two kudos, at least you remain delusional and posting while the rest of your group realized the truth, that your athletic program is a pile of cow dung and have taken off.

So Renner wasn't the starter as of last December?

where is the link to say there will be a competition? HMMMMMMMMMM I don't see one, but I DO see a quote that says Brissett is the starting QB - btw genius Brissett can't be a starting QB YET - he is not eligible in Dec of 2013

    IF Jimbo Fisher

If a cow had a square butt would it would poopbricks

Jimbo Fisher won't name him the starting QB - sensible people know that Winston is a Heisman candidate and will more than likely start. Brisett hasn't taken one snap at NC State. Brisett also has CAREER stats of 41 for 74 455 yards with 4 INTS and 3 TD's.. - it is a desperate announcement by a coach that won't last 3 years

Well, in Doreen's defense, this IS Jacoby "Franchise" Brissett he's talking about. Based on the things I'm hearing from the usual sources, naming him the starter for just about every team in the nation (including the New England Patriots) is a no-brainer.

If Jimbo Fisher were to announce that Jameis Winston would be FSU's starting QB next year, would you think he's stupid, too?

Garrett Leatham,Josh Taylor and Bryant Shirreffs you heard that? Get going you have no chance of starting....get to a school where you can at least compete for the starting job - apparently at NC State starting jobs are handed out in Dec.

If they don't have the skill set that fits with Doeren's system, it's very unfortunate, but maybe they should transfer somewhere where they will get the playing time in a system that augments their skills. You saw what happened last year with trying to fit square pegs into round holes at QB.

Sorry you have such a hard time understanding that. You do realize that not every QB recruit gets playing time in the NCAA, right?

I am telling you that spring practice is for competition for the starting jobs, not December before a bowl game has been played. What do you think all the QB's on State's roster think about this - we know what Stocker did. Doeren is digging himself deeper by doing more dumb stuff.

Exactly... Thomas has had MULTIPLE opportunities to prove himself as more than just a capable backup.

He has not accomplished said feat.

And? Doeren obviously has a better handle on who has what skill set than you do. And who's really his competition? Pete Thomas? He threw 4 touchdowns and 9 interceptions in 9 games. You're telling me he's going to miraculously turn into starter material?

Another failed troll thread by sportsack/hansbrough.

“Jacoby Brissett is our starting quarterback,” Doeren said.

wow just wow - this guy may be in over his head - so if Pete Thomas works ultra hard and gets way better he has no chance of starting - sounding TOBYish
