Cat turning the ball over, struggling to score, not getting teammates involved and Tyler still not getting on the floor (1 minute?).

doesn't take a tweet to see that the coaching staff has lost confidence in Lewis.

    That's hilarious.

    And

Further, unequivocal PROOF, that pansies don't quite grasp "sport".

Lewis is probably a great kid with no skills. Coaching isn't going to help him. Wasted scholarship. Way too little to even challege people.

Cat Barber will be an All American before season end. He already is the best guard in the ACC. Tyler better get used to the bench or transfer somewhere like Tennessee where he can get playing time.

Did you see what the Six five ECU guard did when Tyler came in the game? Straight to the post up, and two points. Still like Tyler his time to contribute will come. Daddy needs to sit down.

  • Toddler10-21 Dec 24, 2013

Can you also imagine Tyler guarding Cat in practice? Thinks that's also when Tyler lost his job. Its kind of like when Paulus lost his job to Nolan Smith. Face it Barber is better than Lewis. Gott has to put the best team on the floor.

  • kato_karma3.2 Dec 23, 2013

    come on duhhman...

it is not uncommon for coaches to have 2 capable PGs on the floor at the same time...with some teams having excellent results doing so (can you say "UNC"?). for example, 2 quick PGs can disrupt the opposing team's offense. another example, 2 passing PGs can create more open looks.

if you have the capability to read, you will find that kato did not suggest that Gott play Tyler more now...with or without Cat being on the floor at the same time. i.e., kato agrees that 8 mins or so on average is appropriate.

  • kato_karma3.2 Dec 23, 2013
    Pro

    come on duhhwayne...

it is not uncommon for Gott to play zone when Tyler comes in...because Tyler's on-ball defense is terrible.

and steal stats can mislead...they are often not representative of how you play your man. Tyler actually plays the passing lanes pretty good (has good anticipation), but other guards simply shoot over and/or blow by him.

  • Deman Dec 23, 2013
    Sports Legend

WHAT?!? Cat is not a SG. You are basically downgrading your PG position AND your SG position by making that move.

As it stands right now, either Cat or Lewis will be on the floor getting PG minutes. With the way Lewis is shooting and playing defense, all we can do right now is ask him to play turnover free basketball for the 8-10 minutes he gets to play.

not sure where you are getting the "significant liability" from...I haven't seen Lewis get taken to the hole an inordinate amount of times.....Pack is normally in a zone when he plays...one 'defensive' stat that can be measured is steals, and Barber averages 0.5 per game, compared to Lewis at 0.3. That is a wash considering Barber plays 9-10 more minutes per game than Lewis(on average)...where is your data for this glaring weakness in defense? my assertion is backed with stats to show cause...your assertion is just, your assertion

even with his shooting challenges, kato would play Tyler in the 18-20 mins/game range...with a third to half of those minutes WITH Cat on the floor at the same time (playing the SG role)...IF he were capable of keeping the opposing PG from driving/dishing/scoring more-or-less at will.

i.e., duhhwayne...Tyler's game minutes are not simply a one (him) or the other (Cat) situation. There are PGs getting significant playing time who are not exceptional scorers. That said, they typically do a better job than Tyler when it comes to playing defense.

who would you play, just pick one...that means either pick 49%/39% made shots, or 31%/16%...its a stretch, for sure, but if you were a coach, which one would you play?...you can just say 49 or 31 to make it simple...not answering the direct question will disqualify you for any valid opinion

Tylers shooting %'s have all dropped from last year...fg%, 3 pt fg%, and free throw %....for the umpteenth time, until he starts hitting shots, he will have limited minutes....if Tyler comes in to a game, and hits a few 3's, makes a lay-up and hits a few ft's, he will stay in the game longer...its called riding the hot hand...since he has not had a hot hand, all year, he has been pulled after several ofer's and too many bricks...Cat is shooting around 50% from the field, and close to 40% from 3 range...who would you play, the guy sporting 49%/39%, or the guy floundering at 31%/16%?...even a dunce can see why he has limited minutes

actually, kato has had it figured out for quite some time...

it is poor duhhhwayne that struggles to accept/acknowledge.

(and the concern is that a few minutes each half will not keep the young man happy)

  • Deman Dec 23, 2013

Which is why he is only getting a few minutes each game. I'm surprised you couldn't figure that one out.

If Lewis was a shutdown defender or able to knock down some outside shots, his minutes would increase. As it is, he is being asked to give Cat a few minutes of rest each half. Like I said, can't ask for much more than a few minutes each half of turnover free play from your backup PG.

Can't ask for much more from your backup point guard. Give the team a good 4-5 minutes each half. Run the offense. Don't turn the ball over.

Lewis, as well as the rest of the first 9 players are clearly learning their well defined roles within the Gottfried system.

It's a beautiful process to witness.

Also, REALITY shows us, that Lewis rather ENJOYED throwing those ALLEY OOPS to JV yesterday...-
