Former North Carolina State forward Tyler Harris has decided to transfer to Providence.
The 6-foot-8 freshman requested a release form the Wolfpack program last month and had narrowed his choices to University of South Florida, Providence, Temple, University of Alabama at Birmingham & Dayton.
Providence was one of the schools Harris considered initially attending out of high school.
Harris appeared in 19 games for the Wolfpack as a freshman notching three starts. He scored 35 points in 132 minutes of court time, recording a season-best eight points against UNC-Asheville coming off the bench.
Harris was initially brought in by Sidney Lowe, but remained at the school after the hire of Mark Gottfried. Gottfried said in a statement Wednesday, “I’m disappointed that my staff and I won’t have the opportunity to continue working with Tyler. I wish him well in his future academic and athletic pursuits.”
