No. 1 Florida State scored once in each half in a 2-0 win over the NC State women’s soccer team Sunday afternoon at Dail Soccer Field.

Florida State, ranked No. 1 for the last five weeks, improved to 11-0 on the season and 4-0 in the ACC, while NC State dropped to 5-8, 0-4 ACC.

Dagny Brynjarsdottir opened the scoring in the 15th minute when she tapped in a loose ball directly in front of the goal mouth.

Jamia Fields took the initial shot, forcing Wolfpack keeper Victoria Hopkins to make a diving save to her right. The ball was left for the taking and the Seminoles pounced on it for a 1-0 lead.

The Wolfpack settled down and played strong defense the remainder of the first half.

FSU came out firing in the second stanza and Tiffany McCarty struck for her fifth goal of the season just 3:06 after intermission. Fields earned her second assist of the match on the Seminoles second marker.

Hopkins made six saves in the match, while Madison Shaw came in late and made one save for the Pack.

FSU maintained a 21-3 shot advantage in the contest.

NC State hosts Maryland next Sunday at 1 p.m., and the match will be televised on Fox Sports Carolinas and ESPN3.
