N.C. State is making its case for bowl
Dec 2, 2008
N.C. State athletics director Lee Fowler has been on the phone with the PapaJohn's, Independence Bowl, Texas and Motor City bowls trying to land a spot for the Wolfpack.
The athletic department has put together DVDs to send each bowl showing the Pack's strong finish and featuring and All-ACC quarterback in Russell Wilson.
The Wolfpack ended the season on a four-game winning streak and Fowler has talked about the excitement level and the prospects of a bowl bid.
"There are 6-6 teams not excited about going to a bowl, we are a 6-6 team that is extremely excited about the opportunity to go bowling." He added that a lot of where State lands will depend on who wins and loses between now and Saturday.
There is speculation at State that the Hawaii Bowl is considering the Wolfpack, but this is not an ACC bowl game so the possibility of heading to Hawaii will take some time.
The ACC is handling all conversations about N.C. State and the Hawaii Bowl.

Good grief Goat Heads. You have one winning season and you'd think you were going to the Rose Bowl. You need to be home picking out somthing nice to embroider on your door mats, other than that girlie goat you have plastered everywhere.

Let's see, 6-5 looks like a winning record to me. If State had finished 6-5 (7-5 with a 12 game season)then you would not be in this situation. The fact is that 6-6 is a .500 record and not the same as 1998 UNC.

LAS VEGAS (AP) _ Carl Torbush made no apologies when North Carolina lost its first three games. He's sure not going to apologize now for the Tar Heels being in the Las Vegas Bowl.
``I have no embarrassment about being in a bowl game at 6-5,'' the North Carolina coach said. ``I haven't seen such excitement about a bowl game and I believe that's from the anticipation of not knowing if you're going to be a bowl game.''
A bowl game certainly didn't seem in North Carolina's future when the Tar Heels lost the first three games of a season they came into ranked No. 12 in the country.
Hmmm, bad start to the season, barely bowl eligible...I would assume Torbush was using fan interest as the basis for his remarks.
