N.C. State and All-ACC quarterback Russell Wilson underwent an MRI this week that confirmed a diagnosis of a knee sprain during last week's bowl loss to Rutgers, according to the school's athletic department.
Wilson suffered a tear of his posterior cruciate ligament in the second quarter of the Papajohns.com Bowl and he did not return in the second half. The injury will not require surgery, but Wilson will be limited for the next several weeks.
When he left the game, Wilson had passed for 186 yards and a touchdown while rushing for 46 yards. He gave the Wolfpack a 17-6 lead. With Wilson sidelined, Rutgers came back and won 29-23.
