Former head coach of the N.C. State women's basketball team, Kay Yow, has died, according to the school's athletic website. 

Yow has recently battled a recurrence of breast cancer and checked into a hospital last week.  She missed four games this season before deciding to sit out for good.

This is a sad day in Womens Basketball. They have lost a true ambassador for the sport. Kay always did things with class. She was an inspiration to everyone. Despite not having the chance to play college Basketball, she became one of the greatest coaches in the sport. I will truly miss seeing her on the sideline. It will never be the same. Rest in Peace Coach Yow.
