N.C. State’s Brandon Costner is officially a junior, but he is scheduled to earn his degree in May and there’s a chance he won’t return next season.
Costner missed the 2005-06 season with a stress fracture in his left leg and was given a medical redshirt. So he is in his fourth year of school at N.C. State.
Costner has said he isn’t ready to make any decisions on his future, and coach Sidney Lowe said Monday that the staff hasn’t addressed it yet with Costner.
“That wasn’t something I wanted to get involved in right now,” he said. “We want him to concentrate on doing the best he can for N.C. State right now, and then we will sit down and talk about it.
“As an organization and program, we have to prepare for both. But right now it’s something we don’t want to talk about. We know it’s there but we haven’t discussed it.”
Costner, who is 6 feet 9, leads NCSU with 14.4 points per game. He is second in rebounding at 6.1 rebounds per game.
