Circus bumped N.C. State-Wake to Wednesday

If you’re wondering why the N.C. State home game with Wake Forest was played Wednesday night – right before the Duke-North Carolina game – then you can blame the circus.

The RBC Center had the Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus through Sunday. Dave Olsen, general manager of the RBC Center, said the arena needed Monday and Tuesday to make ice for the Carolina Hurricanes.

The Hurricanes had a game Thursday night, leaving only Wednesday available for N.C. State.

Karl Hicks, the ACC’s Associate Commissioner for Men's Basketball Operations, said the ESPNU could have elected to pick up the game but did not. He said ESPNU had four N.C. State games already and that might have been a factor.

ESPNU televised Georgia Tech at Virginia Tech, which began at 7 p.m.

N.C. State then elected to start its game at 7 p.m.

“If the game’s not on television, we leave it to the institution to set tip times for conference and nonconference games,” Hicks said.

RE: Circus bumped N.C. State-Wake to Wednesday

I totally understand...if I was completely wrong in an argument I would begin reverting to curse words as well. Let's try this one more time allaboutunc...you might want to put on a helmet for this one. RBC Center vs. Dean Dome...our taxes went to both. Yes, more tax money went into the RBC center. That's obvious, but congratulations for figuring that one out. My whole point is that the RBC Center has an output of 170 million dollars a year that goes back into our community’s economy. My question to you is how much the smith center gives back, being that my tax dollars went to and are likely to go to those facilities in the future. Again, we don't need to fill the RBC Center every game because with the other events going on there it pays for what the tax payers put into it and then some. What's your excuse?

This is probably my last post on this considering your tarhole superiority complex will disallow you to see a major point. But this isn't a new phenomenon so no worries I enjoy looking at things objectively from time to time, you should try it. We never had a problem selling out reynold's although we didn't do it on a consistent basis, I don’t quite see what you're point is and how that has anything to do with the RBC Center deciding to move the game to wed. because of the circus. I'm stating that the RBC Center has the right to move games back considering how big of an impact it has on our economy. Where do any of your arguments play into that?

Bigger issue than Pack/Wake on the same night as Heels/Devils... What is the 'Canes record in post-circus games?

And my tax dollars helped the Dean Dome get built. You are being ignorant if you think the ram's club paid for every single cent of that blue catastrophe. Here's a news flash for you--> Our taxes go to university building funds and that doesn't exclude hansborough's flop arena. I never denied the RBC center being funded by tax payers, you need to try to keep up with the actual argument. I did, however, say that our RBC Center gives a lot more back to the community as proven by the study I cited earlier. And the hurricanes along with wolfpack basketball are a majority of the RBC center's guarantee. And your comment earlier. Do you really think State fans couldn't pack out reynold's? Next time you type something, try to put logical thought behind it first. Individual relativism was disproven a long time ago.

You're so d__n smart tell us how much the RBC center cost compared to the Dean Dome in taxes. You could not fill Reynolds at the time the RBC center was being built. Maybe in the past but why build a building you couldn't fill. Oh what, it's because UNC had the Dean Dome. And you sure the hell can't fill the RBC center without UNC playing in it. As always State and Dook fans want to keep up with UNC. If you can't have it you b__tch about us having it.
